Sorry to hear of your brother’s passing, can’t imagine losing one of my siblings. I lost an uncle right before thanksgiving due to Covid & we’re still in shock.

Thanks for the good instructions. I live in the Pacific Northwest where winters are long, cold and WET. Winter feeding is a must. The bright side, you can make good money in pollination.

Nice how to video. As a suggestion, if you use a "figure 8" stirring pattern when stirring by hand, it will really eliminate any sticking to the bottom or burning, and does mix better.

Great recipe. For us urban beekeepers I would encourage folks use a spacer and put it on top of the frames as rats might be attracted to it.

Merry Christmas to you JP. I do enjoy your videos. The beekeeping world is one of varying opinions. I have heard one must not heat the sugar solution above 190 degrees. It changes the structure of sugar and that is dangerous to the bees. It makes them sick. For years, I have just mixed the sugar with some tap water and let it set up. The damp mixture hardens within a day. JP, why fondant and not the cakes, I make without heating? Is there a particular reason you use fondant? Do have a splendid day.

I like to bring the water to a boil and then add sugar gradually stirring as I add. Probably doesn’t make a big difference. I put the vinegar in the water at start.

Awesome video, great info. Have you thought about using Ice Cube Trays to let it set up in? Then you could pop them out and store them in zip loc bags or even tupperware.
