Been a fan for a while! I never really comment on KZbin videos much, and to be honest I'm only just getting into podcasts but love your content Dam, so have been (sorry in advance) been putting this off for a while... To say this video came at the right time is a complete and utter understatement. I'm at a point in my life when I'm ready to try something new and pick up a new career, and was about to spend £4,000 on a Project Management "course" that would give me 4 qualifications and near-instant employment by the end of it. When Amy said she joined Kevin's "cult", I looked a little closer at the reviews. Spoiler Alert: complete and utter scam! They sweet talk you and then ditch you after payment. I just wanted to say thank you to both yourself for posting this on today of all days, and to Amy for sharing her story. No exaggeration, you have literally saved my life.

Thank god she discovered global index funds. I agree that Amy should have found the boring KZbinrs sooner, like Ramin. He's very witty, informative and boring all at the same time, a true legend.

The biggest mistake I've made was leaving 'old' pensions to stagnate, this was touched on here. I sat down one day and calculated that the average return for my 6 old pensions was 2% per annum. Just the act of pulling these together into a low fee SIPP and investing in a global fund has transformed my future outlook. The 'paper loss' of this neglect is in the order of £100K. We all can, and do, make mistakes but we can also all learn from them. Thank you for this episode.

I feel for her, but she is dead wrong about her attitude to Meet Kevin. Grifters like him use your own feeling of shame to protect themselves from the responsibility they bare. He is a very articulate and knowledgeable young man, but rather than use that to peoples advantage he scams them. You should feel ill will towards him, and be perfectly comfortable in doing so, and have no issues in calling him out at every opportunity you have.

Why would someone who is great at trading be selling his secrets? Surely they'd be making more from trading compared with training others if they were any good. This is why I believe Secker is a grifter.

Her story is similar to mine, but instead of investing influencers, it was football betting tipsters. Most were free but some charged, but between them and my own betting picks, I lost a fair bit of money. You only have to look at the outcomes of games over the past few days to see that no one can be certain of an outcome or number of goals in a match. Experience teaches you not to chase losses and to only risk money you're prepared to flush down the toilet. The psychology she talked about is exactly the same as gambling, which is effectively what Amy was doing buying so many dodgy stocks. Like her, this happened not long after I got divorced at a very low point in my life, it's got nothing to do with intelligence, vulnerability is the biggest factor when it comes to getting scammed or making poor financial decisions. I did meet some good people in the betting forums though, unsurprisingly many of them were getting into Crypto when I left. 😂
@gug1970Ай бұрын
Best advice i ever heard about gambling was on a documentary , where someone, whilst looking across the Las Vegas skyline at all the expensive hotels, attractions and shiny BS said... ' You know... all this wasn't paid for by "winners"' '

Such a sad story. She came so far, making good decisions but just couldn't hold her nerve during a sharp fall and tried to catch a falling knife. “Big red flag”. Certainly was…
@gug1970Ай бұрын
What cemented my thoughts are a) A Jack Bogle interview where he stated that 87% of the time, professionals do not beat the index. b) The idea that you buy when theres blood in the streets because everything is "on sale" - and lastly c) Warren Buffets "advice" to his wife that on his death , she should use low cost index funds. Stock picking is for people that have far too much time on their hands and levels of over confidence in their abilities. Kudos for having the guts to admit her mistakes though. I was always a bit leery about meet kevin (and Graham Stephan and Andre Jikh (who i like the most for hiis more honest approach) - the fact is most "finfluencers" (ugh) got rich through KZbin, not investing (despite their advice on the matter). The ones that drive lambos (which are usually hired) and hang around in mansions (again, usually not their own) or are selling "courses" are just scammers. I'm a little bit surprised and saddened that people still fall for it.

I paid a lot of money to do a wealth creation course which did not live up to its expectations. When I tried to request a refund, this was denied even though it was less than 24 hours. The marketing and the way these things are presented are usually very slick. I know a lot of people that have bought these property courses. However when requested a refund they have all been denied. When I was denied my refund, I decided to lead an online campaign against the company which was very effective. However the company then got their hotshot lawyers onto me for defamation. I had to appoint a lawyer and spent huge amounts of money on legal fees. I had to sign an NDA and therefore not allowed to talk about it and complained to the SRA for being a victim of SLAPP. The market is rife with bogus claims about making you rich. Avoid at all costs!

Especially if you search for something, delete cookies and browse history, and then search for the counter argument. But I've been there as well. In 2018 and 2019 I bought a lot of silver and then March 2020 happened.... Fortunately due to lock downs it was hard to sell the silver.

From 1958 to 1970 absolutely nobody in the education system for one second thought that the most important thing "MONEY AND INVESTMENTS" should be taught to me. At 30 after 5 criminally inept financial advisors I took charge of it myself. The sun came out and at 55 I had grown my wad enough to retire very comfortably. My take: The Education system does nothing to equip our kids for the reality of life. A financial advisor is a crook. A licenced financial advisor is a crook with a licence and NOBODY will take as much care with your wad as you and Jack Bogle who's book should be compulsory reading for every 10 year old
