Makita Circular Saw Conversion from 115v to 220v Part 1 (3)

This is a multi-part video about Makita Circular Saw being converted from 115 Voltage to 220 Voltage.
This is the second part of the videos, it is recommended to view the parts in succession starting from the first part of the video to prevent confusion.
The Circular Saw is not working upon the creation of this video. The owner have accidentally plug it on a 220 Volts source causing the carbon brush connections to melt. It would have been fixed right away but the owner wanted to convert it to 220 volts to avoid the same thing from happening in the future.
The various information in the video needed to convert this power tool will be presented in the other parts of the video, please be patient.

Hello, And thank You for well made and informative videos. I've never rewound a motor only some transformers and I was surprised that You increased the number of turns 3.4 times for double voltage. Is this a rule of thumb? Is there a common ratio between number of anchor windings to field windings, in this Makita case 1:10? With kindest regards //jaan

Hi Jean Ader! Thanks for watching my videos ;) Well we have a different rule of thumb and that is to keep the coils cooler in operation compared to the original coils to make it last longer. And to make that happen we fill in as much as possible field coil and armature coils when rewinding power tools. Although it will come with expenses like more power consumption and almost unnoticeable reduction in RPM. And lastly because we are moving up three numbers in American Wire Gauge we multiply the number of turns to 3 times also, the 0.4 times are added to make sure the coils are a bit cooler compared to just 3 times the number of turns. By the way, this also depends on the type of power tools, I will tackle this on future videos.
