In this video, I have disassembled and checked Makita 18V li-ion rotary hammer drill.
After disassemble I found clutch gears worn out and replaced the o-ring on the piston.

If one barely spins and starts smoking you need to swap the stator/motor housing right? Is that not very difficult to do? I saved one from the dumpster.

Hi I have the same problem but I was not unable to remove my mode selector switch like you. It was difficult to see what you did exactly. 1. Switch to hammer mode, 2.then press switch in and move just past hammer mode. 3. Did you just pull the switch out? My switch doesnt want to come out at all. Yours just popped out then popped back in after the repair?

Hello, do you have same model? Maybe you have DHR202? Then you can check HR2470 videos - switch removing method is different for DHR242 and DHR202...

Did you get it out? It can be very stiff. Turn it to the hammer only setting then gently wrap a wrench round it for some leverage, press the button in and then turn it clockwise further 4-5 mm. then it will prize out. There is a rubber o ring on it which seals it and makes it stiff. To put it back do the process in reverse but you might have to gently tap it back in to overcome the friction of the rubber o ring. Handyman’s came out very easily I wonder if rubber o ring was not present.

Aman Tek I think when you switch between drill only and hammer only your meant to put the switch to drill/hammer pull the trigger then switch it to hammer only. Fucks up over time it switching straight from drill only to hammer only. If that makes sense.
