This little saw is brilliant. The mitre angle lock is a little flimsy. LED lamp works great, laser was spot on from factory. It cuts about 22x95mm on the flat - so a little more than the specs suggest. Cut quality is great. The dual bevel is a bonus. Except for the limited mitre angle range it is something like I had hoped a new Festool SYM 70 would be like. Having had the SYM 70 I think that all in all this is a more useful machine. For thin trim and aluminium don't forget to use a backer or the Makita will throw the trim under the support wall which has a gap. Your fingers will not like this. Ask me how I know. And yes, I did use the onboard clamp, did not help. Thumbs up for Makita on this one though, both thumbs!

Anyone knows the package (not product) size for this? I need to know if I could fit one in an airline checked luggage..

Yes, I do. Just measured the box for a Makita DLS600Z in our Warehouse. Size is 540mm x 430mm x 370mm.

Had a hands on at Axminster tools today with this saw. It’s absolutely lovely and I checked the label it’s made in Japan. At over £500 quid though it’s just way too much money.

they need to drop the price, way too high. £400-500 for body only. Einfell throws in a battery and a charger all for under £100 for the same size mitre saw.

Very expensive they just follow festool insane price policy like Samsung follows Apple prices. I just use my mitre box with handsaw for these lil' cuts. At this pricepont I would like to have at least a systainer shaped mitre saw (who could switch from systainer to mitre saw like a transformer).

The systainer size would be grand. Of course, they would bump the price of another £200 just for the sake of convenience.
