I had a lot of old pipes and rebar to cut up and from what I read kzbin.infoUgkxPDBfLu68o58Aw85O_J-zIFfjJARBhp-3 this would be the tool for the job. Since I had never used one, I watched a couple of youtube videos and I'm so glad I did. Some really good safety tips, which I followed, and this tool did a splendid job. One good thing to know is the weight of the tool puts just about the right amount of pressure on the metal I was cutting, so I didn't have to use a lot of pressure, which is more likely to jam the tool. It made fast work of my job.

Thank you for the video. Is there any difference with using a Makita 5010C which is supposed to be more appropriate?

I think the bristles are not meant to wear down with the blade, they allow air to flow in so that the vacuum can work, this system needs really good airflow. The flexible part at the top is what adjusts the depth.
@tomislav56893 жыл бұрын
They do wear down but not that quickly as blade.

What filter do you use on shop vac? Filter plugged in minutes. Had to remove filter and exhaust outside which was a huge mess.
@Shoptoolreviews5 жыл бұрын
I used a Makita VC4710 dust extractor with a fleece bag as the pre-filter, which catches all the concrete dust, allowing the pleated filters to remain unclogged.
@beerbeforebreakfast5 жыл бұрын
Filters on wet dry vacs are for anything that gets PAST THE VAC BAG that you should always use. Thats how the vac works.
@ednowlan9151 Жыл бұрын
Should also have a HEPA filters Model VC4710 for your Makita grinder. Standard filters not rated for silica. Btw about 100.00 for filters.

Hello, does the shroud act as the gaurd ? Do you not need the gaurd, that comes with the grinder, when you use the shroud ? Thank You.
@Shoptoolreviews6 жыл бұрын
Yes, the shroud takes the place of the guard during grinding. You cannot fit both on at once.

You can make grooves in metal ring where needed. That's what I did to fit Chinese shroud from aliexpress to a DeWalt grinder.

Thanks for the review. One thing that irritates me most.....This Makita shroud is capable of lasting years but the "bristle brushes" on the bottom definitely wear out!! There is no excuse other than greed by the manufactures not to have a part list to replace the brushes-- if they are replaceable!! If the brushes are replaceable or not" you" should mention that one way or the other with facts in your review.... !! Anyone can get up there and talk generically and KZbin is flooded with generic basic reviews them we need real factual details! ( Its an ABSOLUTE WASTE of money to toss a quality shroud if we cant get replacement bristles. That rule should apply to every quality shroud!!) Boycott any manufactures that doesn't offer replacement bristles for a quality shroud... those factual details should be in this review .. ((too basic of a review))...

I remember when they passed that law, osha visited my job (I work in a block plant) and made us work an entire shift with these weird fucking contraptions strapped to our hips to monitor the amount of dust that lingers in the air. Dude gave me shit cause I ended up breaking mine and I told him good get your stupid ass toys off me now.
@Shoptoolreviews4 жыл бұрын
That's really funny. I'd love to write an article on that. :)
@tanisherwood31282 жыл бұрын
The entire purpose of this piece of equipment is to reduce the amount of inhaled silica dust since the dust is extremely harmful to exist as a functioning human. I had a parent who suffered from inhalation of a harmful substance. It is to protect the worker and all those around the worker. So you got monitored. Big deal. I would rather test people to make sure they are safe from harm due to exposure of a known hazard. Your other option is to wear respiratory protection when grinding. I would be pretty upset if you broke one of my pieces of equipment since they aren't cheap. and since you broke it the data collected isn't really worth anything. I like my job and I have a family to feed. It's what I do and it matters.
