I am going to spend about 15 quid on a 5 metre flex cord and rewire my 240v DeWalt track saw thats about 10 years old .... the only issue I have is that the cord is too short ... its attached to the extractor anyway so I always drag a hose or cable... and when I want to cut studs or 'ends' the issue is the short cable. I have probably 20k of hand tools and power tools built up over 30 years .... I think the Makita drill driver I have that's 5 years old sums it up - yes it's heavier than the new ones ... but the bare tool is now only about 60 or 70 quid and it's not even a brushed motor.... but! it's ridiculously powerful ... tools now have to really justify the expense for me to invest ... however this seems a great tool and if you have to buy a new saw I'd get this ....bear in mind kids .... I still build handmade kitchens with my DeWalt 'tracksaw' and it's not even a 'plungesaw' you don't need every tool in the world to be a skilled craftsperson :)

Hi can I use this to cut metal? There's a model for metal but it doesn't do bevel cutting like this model.

No, this is designed for timber.

@@ChampionsOfTheTrade how’s it going now?? Still a good saw? I need something this sort of size for when I’m doing cut roofs? How do the 2.5ah batteries last in it??

@@bigboundsy I really like it and on experience so far would recommend it. Mostly used it for cutting 8x4s. The batteries last pretty well, but the life obviously depends on what you're cutting through. They only take about 20 minutes to charge so it's never been an issue. Keep us posted with what you decide to do.

@@ChampionsOfTheTrade will do, I’ve been a makita fan for so long!! Had the 40v mitre saw and all 18v tools but this year decided to swap to festool as they brought out the kapex cordless. I then got the bug and swapped a lot of my kit to festool, but unfortunately it hasn’t really impressed me!! The mitre saw extractor and plunge saw are definitely a cut above the rest, but the drills aren’t great I’ve literally just sold them and gone back to makita!! Been using the festool hkc55 for first fixing but it’s just not good enough, depth of cut isn’t acceptable and it has no power!!! Going to sell it and get this 40v saw solely for roofing and use my dhs680 for general 🤦🏻‍♂️😂!!!

It's aggravating that Makita is making all of these track compatible circular saws battery powered with no corded option.

If I'm not mistaken, most manufacturers are the same, it's a lot easier when being used on site and trades can do away with the 110v transformers.
