I own this saw in the 36v version and it's incredible. I use it for a track saw and it's never let me down. It even full depth ripped 3m long English oak sleepers without bogging once, can't recommend highly enough. Great video much love from the UK

Good to see you back gents! Regarding the saw not having any base plate on the blade side, the rip fence also acts as that section of base plate if you flip it upside down, which is pretty cool. Also, using a 5ah or 8ah def bumps up the power output, puts it a bit closer in line with the electric model.

Makita needs to bring out a cross-cut system for their saws. Something like Mafell.

You need to run this saw with the 5 amp at least. The 4 amp is holding the motor back :)

@OZToolTalk

not sure. but from the start, all of the 7.25" battery saws (except for rear-handle) are right-hand blade.

Being a long time corded Makita saw user ,namely the 5806b 7 1/4" and 5900b 9 1/4" saws which I believe are among the best power tools ever designed ,I was ready to jump on the Makita cordless platform, but after checking them out ,I passed . Imho Makita has gone backwards on their blade right cordless saws ie bad sightlines, hunched up ergos and bizzare styling. Wtf drugs are their engineers on ?
@OZToolTalk

I certainly agree that they need to fix their sightlines ....

1:52 Do you need lift the guard up to prevent jams?
@OZToolTalk
@OZToolTalk 2 жыл бұрын
no, it will lift naturally most of the time, though that may be a little timber depth dependant.

Probably a nice saw but wouldn't buy one. I started Carpentry in the UK. Big bulky timber everywhere. My main saw was a 9 inch Hitachi electric. Came to Oz 24 years ago. Put the 9 inch on the Ute and never used it. Most things built out of match wood. Haven't carried a big saw now in quite a few years. Anything my smaller saws can't cut in one pass I finish with a handsaw. Not keen on the base plate with no front. I would miss the guard lever. And I have the Dewalt with the double rip fence. Pain in the bum so never use it. Too slow and awkward to put on and off and set up. I weld up my own rip fences. Quick easy rips up to about 600mm wide and any length.
