Clear explanation but very little on diagnosis of the problem - for example if there are no obvious signs of a burnt armature how do you test it to determine whether or not it is actually working as it is supposed to ?

Great video. The only thing i was wondering about is you remove the motor brushes at about 1:30 in your video but don't say anything about putting the back in after installing new armature. Do you just tight screw them in until they are tight after installing new one? or is there such thing as them being too tight?

Is there a video or manual available for disassembly/assembly of a 8610B miter saw? Mine fell off a work bench and the main rear hinge piece broke. I was able to get an older used one so I have the replacement piece now but that hinge is spring loaded and I'm hesitant about taking it apart because sometimes a special tool s required for that sort of mechanism.

thank you for a great tutorial. My Makita LS1018L wont start all of a sudden. No smoke or smell prior. Is there a fuse somewhere to check? The coal brushes looks ok. Can't find anything about a fuse in the manual.

Thanks for the question! If there's no smoke or smell, then it's likely the carbon brushes are ok. I've included a link to our repair center page on our website.
