Makita P05000/6000 5 inch forced rotation/random orbital polisher, Products used : Pinnacle advanced compound, 3D AAT Polish. I think this tool should be priced at 180.00 at most, not 350.00.
Pros : does a nice job, and no holograms. Plenty of power. 5 Inch and 5.5 inch pads are perfect.
Cons : power cord to long in my opinion, ends up getting stepped on the entire time during use. A bit heavy to hold when doing side panels.
Backing plate is specific, and non interchangeable with aftermarket backing plates. To remove the center bolt you most likely will have to use an impact or at least a ratchet, the included allen key just wouldn't break it loose. Pricey at 350 dollars !
Also, it feels hot after use on the under belly.

I truly appreciate your video my friend but next time when polishing. Tape off the crevices as i see you got a load of polish in there. Or next time spread the polish away from the crevices then you'll be able to go over the crevices without having to worry about polish getting in places you don't want because it sucks trying to get it out with a tooth brush.

Compared to the Flex 3401 Forced Rotation which polisher is better? I really like the fact that the Makita can be BOTH a forced rotation AND a free spinning polisher. That's handy having the ability of TWO types of polishers in one unit. I have a 3401 now along with a Griots 6" polisher but I was thinking of selling both of those units and just buying the Makita PO5000C and having just one unit. I really like the 5" size pads compared with the 6" size. What advice is out there ?? Can anyone provide me with any recommendations here? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I was going to get both the Makita for the larger areas and then getting the iBrid nano polisher for smaller areas to polish. That way with two polishers I pretty much have most polishing jobs covered

You can get a 4.5" replacement backplate for the Flex 3401 it works much better with it.

@D J These are definitely accurate points. I do have quite a few different polishers including the 3401, Kompakt, PXE-80, and the Makita. I mostly use the Makita for polishing and finish polishing. I use the 3401 to compound/cut. The Makita is MUCH easier to handle than the Flex. And being able to switch on the fly is very useful in polishing. I first polish using the forced mode and then click it over to non-forced DA for the finish or "refining" stage of polishing. Good point on the Griots. I have thought about getting a BOSS polisher from them. I currently do not have a long throw polisher although I do have the Dynabrade Long Throw attachment for my rotary but it's difficult to keep steady. I definitely need to get me a long throw polisher. A rotary polisher can outperform the 3401 in the right hands but it does take some skill and a LOT of experience using the machine. A rotary in experienced hands is also a lot faster than a DA, but again, you definitely need to have some experience using the machine and keep RPM's on the low side.

@D J If you get a Makita, they do have it in CORDLESS now! I am going to upgrade to that unit eventually as I absolutely love my PXE-80 and the cordless feature. I don't ever want cords again! LOL Amazon has it for $589. Once you use the Makita you will see what I mean about it being much smoother than the Flex. The flex has a higher throw and probably is slightly more powerful but that Makita is the one I always go back to. I just like using it. And that flip switch on the fly is unlike any other polisher currently available. Other than the UDOS, I don't think any other polisher can flip from a forced rotation to a regular DA on the fly. It's a great feature. Yes, it is only a 5.5 mm throw, but in forced rotation, it has got some serious power I assure you. www.amazon.com/Makita-XOP02Z-Lithium-Ion-Brushless-Cordless/dp/B07XJR66TG/ref=asc_df_B07XZVR91G/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=385272107002&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8694200709154057790&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9014243&hvtargid=pla-836146880835&ref=&adgrpid=78829231656&th=1

Thanks for making this video but I'm interested in which way the rotation is in the force mode? Does the pad spin clockwise or Counterclockwise? Please let me know when you get a chance. Thanks, Vince.

Genysmen runner I use 5.5 inch lake country smart pads usually. There are some other 5 1/2 pads out there that are good. Chemical guys pads are good too, but a bit more money ( 8 or 9 dollars each ). Forget 6 inch pads for this machine. Big, dumb, and cumbersome in my opinion. But I do occasionally use 6 inch on my Makita 9237c rotary. I don’t know if the backing plate is interchangeable on this 5000 machine here, I haven’t found one yet.

adrean harrigan They are 350. I guess it is if you use it a lot. If you just use it on your own car a few times a year I’d just get a DA for 120.

So what would be your top 3 choices for a D/A polisher?
@1minibean
@1minibean 5 жыл бұрын
Ryan Opfer If budget is not a concern, a flex 3401 or this one or the Rupes. These ones are both forced rotation and non forced. But I must say that I have a porter cable 7424xp that is bullet proof, and accepts any backing plate. It’s about 110. Dollars. See “apex detail” on you tube, he demos lots of DA’s.

What score do you give to this da polisher? I'm looking for one but I'm not sure.
@1minibean
@1minibean 7 жыл бұрын
Alejandro Bermudez This is a great do it all polisher with plenty of power. The forced rotation option is great, it does get quite warm under use but never fails. It cost 350 dollars equal to a flex or Rupes. I don't like the fact that the backing plate seems to be specific to Makita only which is 5 inch only. But I chose this one because I also use a Makita 9237c rotary and I love it.....Makita is a great tool company. For a DA choice, I think this is the one for me. I would like to try a Flex 3401 some day, it also has forced rotation. I give this Makita an 8 due to the lack of interchange limit of the backing plate, and the fact that it gets quite hot. Still it has never failed though. I've seen a few KZbin vids of the flex burning up on more than one occasion.

Alejandro Bermudez I will also recommend the Porter cable 7424 xp. I have used this machine for years and it takes any backer plate you can get, and you can run it all day and it will never fail you. It's only about 115 dollars, and money well spent. Just use 5.5 inch pads to get the full potential.

excess of material, you worked on the film, you must work until all material disappears. You did not work with direct material on the veneer but rather on an excess film.

ExpertCar I appreciate your comment, however the compound I'm using is not designed to be used until it disappears, only until it breaks down, and does its job. Although you are right about the fact that I used a bit to much. See part 2 of the final finished product, and you will see the results, and what this compound has done to this clear coat.
