I was kinda looking for a cordless cutter to cut quarter panels out of a vehicle at pick a part but my heart sunk when I saw cardboard and plastic bags as a demonstration

You might be able to use the Milwaukee M12 Compact Cut-Off tool for this application >> www.acmetools.com/shop/tools/milwaukee-2522-21xc

Very nice wish Milwaukee had a tool like this!

It wouldn't surprise me if Ryobi got one eventually, and Milwaukee is basically just a red overpriced Ryobi these days that occasionally gets better versions of Ryobi tools that Ryobi tests on the market first. But to each their own.

I bet the forearm feels great after breaking down a pile of boxes with a Stanley. With the Makita, you can cut cardboard into spaghetti if you wanted and still be able to open a tight jar of pickles afterward!

Also, double or triple wall cardboard, the problem isn't the card but the damn glue, always a real annoyance to get that off a blade, not hard, but not fun either.

I love makita a lot they make some amazing quality tools even there made in China ones are still really good , but this tool is really just fixing a problem that doesn’t exist. All it is , is a electronic utility knife basically just slower in some cases and way more cumbersome than a trusty Stanley 99e not to mention way more expensive than a utility knife, sorry makita but this is a swing and a miss

We use these tools on a daily bases for resizing card board. They are excellent. I am watching this video to see if there was a new model out for the third one I will buy.

You know what I’m glad you like them and find them useful, to be fair I was really just thinking about my uses and actually didn’t consider resizing/reusing cardboard boxes that’s actually a really good reason to use this and I’m sure 1 battery lasts forever with just cutting cardboard , I was coming from a carpenters lifestyle and I didn’t even think about the shipping box factor

The purpose of this product is to save the user calories. Cutting cardboard boxes to throw away or to use for packaging material will burn calories; using a razor blade based tool will burn more calories than using this electric tool. What this tool has over a basic chainsaw or circular saw, is the weight and volume. You could use this in your bedroom without waking your family/roommates. You could use this sitting down, watching tv. The only criticisms that fundamentally make sense to have for this tool, if you're using it to save calories when cutting things, is the power output, the blade size, and the ergonomics.

Or the same independent designer sold the design to a few companies... See it all the time, competition is how this capitalism stuff is supposed to work, can't have competition if a few companies hold all the best ideas, and never improve on them, but also never allow others to improve on them either.
