How well do the 2.0 batteries do on runtime? I like the thought of this majors impact with the lightweight batteries.
@garnerreviews8 күн бұрын
They do well enough, seem to last as long as one would expect a 2.0 AH battery to run. Ultimately there are several factors that would determine the runtime on these batteries. I like having them for their size and weight but would also suggest having a larger battery for those really big projects where you will be running the tool all day. I have the xdt19 and the subcompact black version but I keep going to the xdt19 as my go to driver
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
It really is so good. I haven't had the opportunity to use any of Makita's subcompact line of tools but I think the drill/drivers look the most interesting just because the full size impacts are all ready so compact. 👍🏻 Thanks for sharing and watching.

Good comparison. Looking to buy the 173. Is there a release date for the US/UK version?
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
There isn’t one that I have heard of, usually it takes the better part of a year to get the new impacts into the US market. Maybe a little sooner in the UK. 👍🏻 Thanks for watching and commenting.

Great video dude. I appreciate you breaking out the Festool. It’s an impact that we don’t see in use too often wich is a shame. Looks like a fine tool. The only LXT I have is the XDT 13 and the black compact 15. They are ok but dated. I hopped into the XGT line and it’s just amazing the craftsmanship that goes into Makita especially the models from Japan. The saws are by far my favorite thing to use at work. Awesome video and comparison man.
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
Thanks! The Festool definitely doesn’t get a enough attention, such a nice tool. I am such a sucker for quality tools, which is why I think I gravitate towards Makita, Festool, and Bosch. I have been very happier with all of my tools from those three. 👍🏻 The XGT lineup is getting better and better, I kind of hope that Makita brings some lithium pouch tech to both the LXT and XGT lineup.
@IMPACT-NATION Жыл бұрын
@@garnerreviews dude that would be awesome. Pouch cell batteries are the future as far as power and performance. The way you can pull current so fast and clean is the way to go. The older cylindrical cell packs still get it done for sure especially quality cells but yes definitely pouch cells you cannot match at the moment
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
One hundred percent agreed. I would assume Makita has been working on it, but they seem to take their time and not rush new tech which I can appreciate. Especially if they work out any potential issues. 👍🏻

Are you asking about a 13mm bit holder or the spacer that makes the collet a 9mm?

I believe that one was from Amazon and it shipped from Amazon Japan. It is a Vessel Bit Holder from Japan. 👍🏻

The little metal piece at the bottom is very smart…. Could I be a jerk and ask for a video of that process??? I was looking at picking up a 173… and first thought was well hell there has to be a Japanese standard but holder base with a E6 holder… yet to find one…

Just got the td173 delivered to the uk. Had no idea the bit holder was different!?
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
Yeah, the Makita impacts that are built for the Japanese market (referred to as JDM for Japanese Domestic Market) have a 13mm collet. Most of the rest of the world uses a 9mm collet (the distance from the bottom of the collet to the detent position). You can technically use a 9mm bit holder but it has a lot of back and forth play. I purchased a bit holder that had the 13mm shank and used a little modification to allow 1/4 insert bits to fit better. So far that is working well. Hope that helps. You could also purchase some bits from Japan that have the correct shank/detent length.
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
That should do it. 👍🏻 Enjoy, this is definitely my favorite impact to date.

@@garnerreviews can the 13mm Chuck be swapped to the uk 9mm Chuck?? By a tool fixing professional??
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
I have been told that previous generations of Makita’s were able to have the collets switched to the 9mm version. I would assume that is going to be true with this one, but it may take some time for the parts to become available for that swap. Definitely something to ask a Makita service tech.

Good Video, however You Can't demo Makita properly with a 2 amp Battery .. you need to use the 6 amp to realise the true potential. The 2 Amp will not deliver the required current.
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I wasn’t aware of this. So is it only the 6ah batteries or do the 4 and 5 AH batteries provide the additional current for top performance?
@jeremyalder2073 Жыл бұрын
4/5/6 amp will deliver the same maximum power
@garnerreviews Жыл бұрын
Thanks for letting everyone know. After looking into it I came to the same conclusion, the 4, 5 and 6 AH batteries should offer the best performance with the only difference between them being run time. 👍🏻
