In my opinion, you couldn't go wrong with either one of these impact drivers. I prefer the Dewalt but, I already have several Dewalt tools, batteries, and chargers so, I'm vested in the Dewalt 20v cordless platform. The Dewalt may be a little cheaper than Makita at times, but fathers day sales, black Friday sales, and Christmas sales can make them about even. It most likely will come down to your personal preference and which platform you want to get in bed with LOL. If your trying to decide which platform to go with, I'll say this... Milwaukee is the tried and true brand for the professional, but very expensive in my opinion for the average homeowner or weekend "DIY" person. Bosch is not far behind them for quality and durability. Dewalt and Makita are the challengers for the top spot too. This leaves Ryobi and RIDGID. These are in the lower price range but they are still decent tools. I would choose Ryobi over RIDGID because I think there is some uncertainty in the RIDGID platform at the moment due to their change in batteries and some changes in their tools. RIDGID does offer a "Lifetime Service Agreement" but they don't have the selection of tools that Ryobi, Dewalt, and Milwaukee have. I realize there are more brands of cordless tools out there. The brands I mentioned above are the ones I have personal experience with so I can't honestly comment on the brands I haven't owned. If someone else has experience with other brands, please comment. I don't know everything... ask my wife! LOL!

I recall in a tool teardown somewhere that the Makita (as well as the Dewalt 12 volt extreme), use a needle or roller bearing in the nose cone, while the typical Dewalt 887 and Milwaukee Gen 3 don't. I have the XDT14 DCF840, DCF801 and 901; the Makita and the 801 Extreme are both noticeably smoother and quiter than the other two Dewalt impacts.

@@ManCaverTools The assist screw mode for driving large fasteners and lags works pretty much the opposite of a tech screw mode. @@thetruth5210 ? if you make a comparison it should be done at what a given tool is fully capable of. but if you do limit a test to battery size that's completely fine. just use the best battery for that given tool for size. test 4ah to 4ah but if the other company has a better 4ah battery you should use that one. Bought a brand new DeWalt table saw recently. Unpacked it and was about to make the first cut when I realized the power button was defective and doesn't stay on. As soon as you let go, it shuts off. Wonderful. $500 new table saw doesn't even work out of the box. Had to waste time going back and returning it. Fucking DeWalt garbage. More like DeShit. All of my makita tools have worked out of the box, and are still going even after 8 years.

Didn’t you just make a video about fairness due to batteries? I believe you said it’s fair to use a special battery because the company put the effort into making the battery and it’s not their fault the other company didn’t
@ManCaverTools
@ManCaverTools 3 жыл бұрын
no, I said in the video that a company having a video like that is different then a youtuber. its not Dewalt fault the manta doesn't make a 21700 celled battery. im not only going to use 18650 celled batteries against makita. that would be rediculous

You drive dewalt first, then makita every time wood near prior dewalt is denser than before because of dewalt drive then you compare makita in the same area made more dense by prior dewalt DO IT AGAIN WITH MAKITA HAVING 1ST INSERT TO SOFT WOOD THEN DEWALT FOLLOWING CLOSE AFTER MAKITA

@@CP-kb1du agreed bro. 100%. I’m a tool nut and I love to protect my investment. I mean I beat my atomic kit up pretty bad but I just purchased the 887 impact and treat it like a baby. I don’t want it to drop. Want to have it forever. I also use my atomic impact a lot and it still works like new even after all the drops. The drill is a little ehhh. It grinds a bit in second gear but still drills holes and drives screws. Can’t complain. Until it dies I’m still using it. I like to protect my tools as best I can. I’m considering the 12v as my next set from dewalt. Even just the impact as I rly don’t use a drill that much. I love the xtreme line and it’s a beast as small as it is. I don’t need a lot of speed. I still strip screws out on 2800 rpm if I’m not careful. Protect your tools don’t abuse them

I own the Dewalt 887 (3250 rpm's) and a Makita XDT14 (3600 rpm's) which has the same specs as the XDT16 , so you would think it would be faster than that Dewalt , BUT Makita Lies about their Specs for some reason , Project Farm did a rpm test on them and the Makita xdt16 only did around 3300 rpm which is 300 slower than its specs and the Dewalt dcf887 did around 3350 which was about 100 or so More than its specs said and more than the Makita , I don't understand why Makita would lie about its specs , the Makita is a great impact and I love mine but the Dewalt is noticeable more powerful , Especially with a 21700 battery....

Final test was flawed. The dewalt bolt was at more of an angle so the skipping was less than the makita. If you angled the makita on the final test, it would’ve done the same depth

What exactly is the purpose of this competition? Let's just assume that one is better by a second or two or three or four... What's the point? A tool is more than just being faster by a fraction than another tool; it's the handling, the reliability, the noise and the battery environment... I do hope you have a full time job besides this crap...

@@ManCaverTools You either didn't understand or didn't want to understand. Such a comparison is pointless because no one has only one tool. We usually have a few. And that makes the difference. Personally, I prefer solutions from Japan, not from the US. The ones from Japan are more refined, they are more trustworthy. Nobody normal, I repeat NO ONE gets excited about the differences at the level of a second. Your hand is not that fast. Work with the hardware a bit, then you'll understand.
