Agreed! It's quite a leap from "inspired by God" to "therefore: iPhones." If someone told me they had written a poem, or whatever, after being "inspired by God," I would never start dissecting their writing to find some hidden insight into what technology had yet to emerge. If this is what people are like today, it's easy to see how a Simon Magus type of thousands of years ago could show up to a village, pull off a few parlor tricks, and swindle people into all sorts of nonsense.

When he said ''It does." I said "Ooooh my g-o-o-o-d." His views have been wrong, but this is beyond wrong. (p.93) - "The chariots rage in the streets, they jostle one another" of Natham 2:4 are the clanking and the bumping of railway cars. (p.93) - The "voice from heaven" of Revelation 18:4 is the voice of The Watchtower Society. (p.276) - The glory of the angel of Revelation 18:1 refers to modern discoveries such as correspondence schools, celluloid, Divine Plan of the Ages, talking machines, vacuum cleaners, induction motors, pasteurization, Panama Canal, shoe sewing machines, subways, skyscrapers, Roentgen rays. (p.273) - The preachers of Christianity say things that originate in their own imagination (p.432) [proved their own point 🤣] - Revelation 14:20 predicted the precise distance from the place where The Finished Mystery was produced in Stranton, Pennsylvania to its shipping destination in Bethel in New York City (p. 230) How embarrassing!!! 😊 (Thanks to JW Facts for making this list so easily retrievable)

Of course, once you accept the idea that any sentence in scripture can be yanked out of context (sometimes with the help of questionable translations) and interpreted hard enough to be a prophecy about a much later time ("A currently pregnant young woman shall bear a son named Immanuel, and once he gets old enough to distinguish good from evil, your current political problems will have solved themselves" -> "The messiah will be born of a virgin and be called Jesus", and that was already done when the gospels were written) - anything becomes possible.

In hebrew the word for evil is רוע or רע depending on the niqud, either way רעת doesnt make sense as a noun by itself as far as im concerned (and i also looked up the word and by itself nothing came up), now if it were רעה which either means bad in a feminine sense (so saying "shes bad" would translate to היא רעה) or something along the lines of an evil deed, a wrong, which might turn to רעת only if it were a smichut as far as i know (סמיכות, according to wiki it translates to a construct state but i really dont know how well it translates to it) which we dont see in the masoretic text, i dont know greek but i doubt there is indication for it as u translated it, so either im wrong and רעת is a noun by itself (in which case i would ask for a reference for it) or it's more complex than the way you present it.

Super cool when people lift verses entirely out of context to claim miraculous knowledge that is entirely meaningless to the people who the text was for, and even in the re-imagined context does nothing to improve the knowledge of the people at the time. Just an amazing nothingburger of credulous nonsense. He's strawmanning the real question ("If the Bible is the word of God, why doesn't it assist people in knowing anything more than was already generally known at the time of its writing?") and then even his response to his own strawman is weaker than homeopathic vodka.

On the point of money as a phylactery, it arguably always has been. Money is so ephemeral that economists cannot agree on a definition for it (I find the distinction between exogenous and endogenous money most useful) -- it is an emergent psychic phenomenon that behaves as if it was a spirit with agency acting upon the world -- people sacrifice their time, effort, and ultimately their life energy for it. It is not without reason that some ancient cultures personified the money spirit as a deity. The author of the Apocalypse wrote that bit about the mark of the beast with hindsight, not oracular foresight.
