Nice video showing tips and tricks with real field targets while helping a new detector learn his machine. This video was much more casual, and relaxed. As always you're very positive and encouraging. Plus it's live video of what new detectors are going through out in the field probably alone with no one there to answer any questions getting frustrated and discouraged. So a video like this is help, knowledge and encouragement to keep trying great job being YOU bud! I like the in vid informative pop up banners too. GET YOUR CAKE ON!

Good tips - or at least, they match my experience perfectly. I have been detecting on and off for a decade but I have only done 3 days with the Racer 2. I have found that the big deep signal that scores in the 90s is pretty much always deep iron with a hole in it. The more circular the hole, the better the target ID>. The racer 2 seems more prone to this than my old DFX but it is not a problem when you know about it. I think that what is happening is that the current flow around the hole causes an odd phase shift that the detector considers to be non-ferrous. I think that the reason that the Racer is more subject to this than most detectors is that its recovery time from iron is exceptional. Most detectors, including my old DFX, would just null out on seeing the iron and so not notice the odd phase shift. I am going to check this theory with Makro.

Hi I've just bought a racer 2pro, it'll be with me Monday. Im fairly new to detecting and keep hearing recovery time mentioned. Can you tell me in easy to grasp terms what it is please?
@AngloCelticMetalDetecting8 жыл бұрын
In simplest terms how the audio recovers from telling you a bad target then recovers quickly to pick up a nearby good target

Thank you for a concise reply. This is pretty much what I thought recovery time was.

Tap it gently on the ground a few times as you’re balancing it mate. I had that issue and that worked.

Hi Stephen. Is the Racer 2 a sparky machine or quite stable. I'm just selling my Sorex Pro because it falses a lot and takes a lot of fiddling to get it running nice, thinking of replacing with the Racer 2 if it's a smoother runner?

Make sure your ground balancing each time you move from the wet to the dry . Keep your sensitivity up quite high about 80 at least . If it's cos the sand is highly mineralised then try all metal mode and play with the Isat setting to see what difference that makes .
@AngloCelticMetalDetecting8 жыл бұрын
If you try all metal mode remember to put tracking on . Always switch tracking off tho if you go back out of all metal .
