From 1:35 to 1:50, awsome, doing all this at high angle of attack, and yet it looks effortless. And all this with interim AL-41F-1(izd.117) engines. I assume that, there are still heavy restrictions regarding G forces ( since the aircraft is still being tested) otherwise the entire "show" be even more spectacular . Whith second stage engines, ( izd. 30, with 8% more thrust, and 20% less weight) and mature airframe, this "baby" will be kinematic monster and probably most maneuvarable fighter out there...

Yeah, I agree, but it was ``stand alone`` performance of Su57 ( in 2015). On MAKS 2017 , Russia decided to show dog fight`s between it`s elite fighters Su30SM, Su35S, and Su57. And they were awsome, but "you" would need at least two simultaneous cameras to show what is aircrft A doing with respect to aircraft B , in order to "explain" what is actualy happening in the air . And I think your video showed some of that. Best regards .

Amazing the way it doesn't add any throttle but maintains speed and altitude through such high G maneuvers. It's just an aerodynamic marvel how cleanly it slices through the air by shaping the leading edge of the lifting body strakes in perfect balance with the tail surfaces and thrust vectoring. It's like a bird, more biological in nature than a mechanical object with hard inflexible surfaces. It doesn't fight the air by pushing at aside and plowing it's way through it, it slices cleanly through it like a knife instead. Incredibly efficient aerodynamics, but then that is what Sukoi is famous for being the best at.

Totally on point! Half the secret is (I guess) the fact that they reduced the tail surface by converting the fins into full-flying stabs, thus bleeding much less energy. Also, as you pointed out the aerodynamic design is super-slim compared to western aircraft, F-22 included and that results in a better kinematic performance :)

I do think it could end up being better, and kinda hope it does, but we can't know for sure until it's finished. Then again, I doubt we'll ever know if it really is better, cos I doubt the US and Russia would be keen on doing combat simulations with them.

I think it will be inferior in Stealth features but that might be a good thing. I mean, stealth can only bring you so far. If they sacrifice a little bit of RCS in exchange for superior kinematic performance, cheaper maintenance and easier to keep in ready state, I think it is a good sacrifice. ;)

"stealth" dont make any difference in A-A combat between 5th or 4th++ gen planes, just search how ef2000's PIRATE see a f22 or f35... and you must have on count the RoE, most of them estipulate that you have to be out of any doubt that you are shooting enemy, so most of the A-A comabt must be on medium or close range

What makes this thing so scary is with the internal carriage it doesn't suffer the drag of the SU-35 and earlier 4 and 4.5 gen aircraft so in the event it get's up close and dirty it's a very dangerous piece of hardware. Not to mention that like the F-22 and F-35 it's also meant to be a BVR specialist. Great shooting by the way. Once again.

Still it has less internal weapons capacity than that of the F-22 but has other advantages to compensate. Apart from beautiful aesthetics, I think it is a very innovative design with the LEVCONs and the full flying vertical stabs, allowing to decrease stab drag and improving drag and maneuverability all at once :)

Not exactly... Other than the own statements of the manufacturer and wikipedia compiled data I don't have access to much more... But I once talked to a man that is involved with it and told me that the plane was capable of much more than what is shown on the airshows... which again is nothing really new. We all know that these aircraft (F-22 included) have restrictions on airshow displays... and it is also clear to me that they are purposefully keeping the speed of the aircraft down... and much of the time the afterburners are dormant... they are only engaged on high alpha and climb-ups so as to keep speed, but as soon as they reach the target they cut it... so you see for example a Rafale, Eurofighter, F-16, JAS-39 flight displays... they are all flying MUCH faster, displaying a high energy segment of the flight envelope. I've seen the SU-57 flying faster in some of the older MAKS displays (2013-2015) so we can expect it to be very competent in that range as well, very likely overcoming the competition in kinematic terms. That's why many people complain that the plane is 'sluggish' or feels heavyweight. Try to do the same with any other aircraft and guess how it will look! xD

This jet is a Russian masterpiece. The Russian people must be proud to see such a fine aircraft produced by their country. It could be a rival to the F-22 if produced in enough numbers. The Su-29 and Su-35 will have to assume that role.

I'm pretty sure the plane can outperform the Su-35 but they hold the pilots on a short leash. Anyway, check Su-57 performance from 2013 and you'll see that it made more agressive maneuvers. ;)

These things are beautiful and seem like they were meant for air shows but in the same way I feel like I would not want to be the guy flying one of these. It's so visible, you could see this thing from miles away. They flew an f-35 over my city to where you could see it but hardly anyone could tell what kind of fighter it was the only reason anyone noticed it in the first place was because the engine is just monstrous in a way I have never heard in any jet before.

These are flying very low for demonstration purposes. If they flew at the height that you saw that F-35 you'd likely have trouble identifying it as well. Also the colours that they will be using on the mass production version will likely be different just like with the SU-35. This scheme is meant for marketing and PR. ;)

the last time i seen the f-35 was at an air show where it was meant to be seen. i did also see one flying over my city not hiding and it was extremely hard to make out but i had binoculars that day because they were testflying that day but the t-50 is a big fighter and almost twice as long and wide as the f-35. the f-35 is even hard to see compared to the f-22. that thing is so big and flat almost like a huge perfect triangular. it's because Russia worries more about maneuverability than anything but that sacrifices it's stealth characteristics.

That "stealth" characteristics of the 5th gen only work for 4th gen and older planes. "Stealth" on this planes only work on "X band" and doenst work with "L band" or any IRST. maybe thats the reason why russian dont care at all about the "stealth".

Maybe this thing has not the stealth of the F-22 but it sure has some awesome flight performance. This masterpiece can shake off radar lock and missiles easy not to mention the ECM. It has 3d thrust vectoring will get even better engines and super maneuverability that the west cant match. Price wise it is a no brainer it beats the F-22 hands down PAk-FA= UFO PERFECTION.

In the long term, that is very likely. I always thought that closing the F-22 production line was a bad choice... how many F-22 could have been procured, with pilots trained counting in the thousands of flight hours if all the money from F-35 had been invested there? yes there is some aircraft flying in the High Desert of California that will blow your mind ,,, back in 1997 I seen one being chased by F16s ,, this aircraft was so far in advanced of what I have seen anywhere ,, It was also very fast ,, I first thought it was a B2 ,,, but it was not even close to a B2 ,,, I was in total shock ,, that was back in 1997 ,, I wish someone got a video or a picture of this thing ,, as I was driving and it was crossing my path ,, it was just moving too fast ,, and it was maybe flying at 2500 feet ,,, flying low and fast ,, and when it turned,, it was aggressive

Sukhoi had here 2xT-50`s, Su-35S and Su-34 in the 4 aircraft formation. Where was Su-30SM? Does post stall maneuvers better than Su-35S and T-50 both. Patty Mills I think it's demanding to fly at such a low speed? Looking for more videos, they'll see what they can. I watched a few days ago Sergei Bogdan. The T50 has almost the same maneuverability as the SU35. There must be a reason for the restriction, but it is not of a technical nature.

I'm afraid you have bought into the western propaganda campaign. The program is not cancelled. Actually the first batch of 12 aircraft have already been ordered for serial production.

Airguardian but ive not been bought into westrn media but I understand whay you say it and your partially right not about me of coarse but about the western prop anyway lets get to the point, ...., then why so little production, why not mass production and what didn't pass well in the actual tests, I read that the current budget will be not sufficient for further research, development and mass production. These means that russian government doesn't have the real budget and capacity needed to develop this piece of beauty into it's real height like it's own counterpart the F 22! And I personally think that only if it would have the same budget as the f22 raptor then the final su pak fa program will be complete. Till then will not be a complete plane in the sense of its development as the raptor. I hope I'm totally wrong.

All these things I have only read in western press. All of them drawing quick conclusions from a public appearance by Yury Borisov on channel 'Rossiya 24' in July 2nd. Facts are the first batch of 12 aircraft are already ordered but the plane is not ready yet and money is required elsewhere, namely in the projects announced by Putin earlier this year, but that doesn't mean they cancelled the program. That just makes no sense.

Well, the money clearly is a factor here, but also the new engines for the jet just began testing earlier this year. Probably still need to go through much more testing and problem fixing before calling it a day. So it makes perfect sense to delay launch of mass production so that Sukhoi, Saturn and all other involved companies get everything right before scaling up the project. Anything that needs to be corrected later costs much more money than if done right from the start. You see opposite tendencies with the F-35 and Lockheed Martin because it is a privately owned enterprise focusing on profit. Sukhoi is basically state-owned business so different rules apply. If the Su-57 actually enters service in 2019, it will have taken the same time of prototype phase as the F-35 with a much smaller budget which is quite impressive IMO. If not, it's still not critical. I don't think the program will be cancelled but I sure expect it to be further delayed. Great aeronautical projects always suffer from these. When you get to the state of the art tech, moving even a centimeter further becomes very difficult ;)

the PAK-FA T-50 is good in a airshow but not in a dogfight the F-22 avionics and steath is better and can super cruise without afterbuners T-50 can not. The F-22 has first look first shot capability the T-50 dose not. The Indian goverment cancelled an order of T-50 for lack of avionics rear end steath capabilities Russia is only building a small limited aqauntities of T-50 have a nice day

Ok in close dogfighting missiles are no good guns only the Russian Cobra maneuver is almost in a stall stall the U.S uses high kinetic energy dogfighting it will loop around and shoot the SU-57 before the SU-57 has change to accelerate again to a high speed Kineic engery has the advantage U.S planes are also highly supermaneverable but prefers Kinetic energy fighting supermaneverable are good in a air show as for radars is concern the F-22 and F-35 have a rader section the size of a smell bird Russian planes do not you can look is up on KZbin the F-22 and F-35 can absorb and deflect radar steath Russia will have this to someday. U.S plane can change wavelenght in a switch of a button in the planes this is all about electronic warfare and i believe U.S has the advantage.
