Watching a KZbin vlogger the other day, she casually said "I want to own a vineyard, that sounds fun" and I was surprised to realize I limit my own dreams before I even really explore them - that sounds unattainable for me to do but it absolutely is not. Kinda scary and exciting. I like the assessment method of this. Feels more analytical compared to powersheets.

"Is this a goal I have chosen for myself?" is so powerful. So many things we take on are from a sense of obligation or external beliefs and expectations. Life changing stuff there. My to do list shrunk by half when I started asking myself this question. So freeing.

I am in love with this planner, this goal setting system, the creator and the community is amazing. She did come out with a companion set that is just the goal setting and weekly actions without the weekly layouts that is lay flat binding (no wire o 😉) for those who want to use this system but already have a planner they love.

I've turned my bujo into a Makse-planner. I love her system but I can't afford buying her planner. But what I really love about her are the free printouts on her website so I can use her system without her planner. Really recommending this system - I've never had so realistic goals as I've had this year. And that she points out so clearly that goals can change during the year. She recognize the fact that our lives are constantly changes. Love, love ,love my bujo with this system implanted (is that the right word in english???)

Implanted is close! But inserted (meaning put in) or integrated (meaning put in and made an important part of) might be better :) Your English is awesome!

I didn't even realize that I too hate wire-O binding until I was clearing out a bookshelf the other day and found all the pretty notebooks and journals that people have gifted me over the years that I've never used, and they all have that binding. The notebooks I actually use are all some other type.

Several people I follow on social media mirror the heart / emotion portion of goal setting. Jim Kik and Christy Wright are two that come to mind. Jim makes it clear that goals are head, heard, hands. Ot starts with you mind setting and visualizing the goal, you get your hearts buy-in and the emotional why, then your hands will do the work needed.

Not late at all Cindy, love your opinion and honesty and would watch anytime of year. Would love you to do a comparison between MakseLife and Powersheets. I’ve bought both but am intimated by both and just the goal setting in general in this current time so I love watching anything you do xx

In the 2020, the dot grid page was actually lined and had the title Notes & Reflections so you can do a weekly reflection at the end of your week. She changed it to make it more flexible, so you can do anything you want. Reflect, plan a head, all your meal planning and grocery lists, drawing....sky’s the limit.

I’m happy you finally got to this. The goal setting stuff in here made me think of you and that really good productivity discussion a couple Sunday’s ago on your live. The 3 types of goals is unique in a great way, in my opinion. I’ve gone sorta all-in with ML for 2021. I started early...re-coiled and re-dated Dec 2021 for this month. Liking it so far. Finally started a channel to record my thoughts/process/progress. (The colors and the fact that I already had colors / categories kept me away last year with a couple other quirks.)

A bit of hilarity... the goal setting structure Makselife uses is SMART-aligned. It's like... almost there and just a little different! I actually watched a Skillshare course last month that was Goal Setting for the Self Taught Creator... and the instructor explained the SMART goal system a lot like how it's presented in Makselife. It made me connect with the idea of SMART goals better, and even if I don't use that framework, I'm thinking about my future goals as falling within those loose rules.
@CindyGuentertBaldo4 жыл бұрын
i like how it is presented (and should check out that class) - it feels less... dry and more real? does that make sense?

You should totally use it. I loooove it. I tried powersheets earlier this year and they didn’t work for me. I didn’t like having the same habit tracker all month long because when I miss a day, I get discouraged and don’t want to continue. I’ve been using the vertical Makselife since October and it is so worth it. I’ve done the life compass assessment at the beginning of October and again a couple days ago while prepping for next year and I’ve seen a definite difference in my scores and how satisfied I am with my life overall. I preferred the goal setting/prep material in the makse over the Powersheets.

The wire-o is a really nice one. When it got to August 2020, I couldn’t flip it open well, so I removed January-June for the rest of the year (really easy to do). At the end of December I’ll add it back in. In 2020 I only used MakseLife very successfully, but in 2021 I’ve added PowerSheets (1st yr) for a some deeper introspection. So far, in the prep work, I am weaving the two systems together well.... I also like the digging of PowerSheets monthly planning. But prefer the categories and space allotted to weekly planning in MakseLife.
@dorielmore1074 жыл бұрын
I see exactly what you're saying. I had Powersheets 2019...nothing goal-specific last year, and I'm glad, LOL. I have Makselife for this year. I can see in the future how I could manage both for the benefits they both seem to have. i'm also already planning to remove half.

I feel like a lot of these goal setting journals and planners just don't take the "broke millennial" (me) into account. When I think of my goals, none of them work well with these kinds of processes. Me and many of my friends are all twenty-somethings still living with our parents, working minimum wage jobs that we know we won't be in forever, but will continue to be in for a while while we try to get on our feet financially and spend the next 5-10 years paying our student loans. A lot of our goals are long term (and we've made peace with that) and I feel like goal setting planners like this want more concrete and short-term goals that aren't "move out of my parent's house at some point". Sorry that was a but ramble-y, but that's my twenty-something two cents.
@iluv2dance02594 жыл бұрын
Hi! I get where you're coming from, I've felt like that too and have kind of shied away from goal setting for that reason. Kind of like the goals I have aren't going to be met by the end of the planner so they don't really have space in that planner? I guess? Anyway, I wonder how much of Sierra (the creator of the MakseLife) or MakseLife's content you're familiar with because they talk a lot about goals being tasks and the everyday sort of "mundane" things we do being thought of as steps working toward bigger goals. And, that goals have such a range of big, long term dreams and shorter, more "basic" things, so to speak. A lot of what I'm referring to kind of ties in with their philosophy on the stretch, progress, and maintenance goals as they label them in the planner. Thinking about goals in this way has helped me with the feelings around goals you described in your post. IDK, just some thoughts.
