Back to a nice simple ambient video this week as Maksim Outdoors heads back to Ohiopyle, one of the premier state parks within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Take in some gorgeous views along various trails on a nice winter morning alongside ‪@HikingwithRicky‬
If you're curious about hiking this route, we parked at the Visitor Center, hiked across the "low bridge" on the GAP trail, made a left onto the Ferncliff Peninsula and hiked the loop around before rejoining with the GAP trail and crossing the "high bridge" across the Youghigheny River. We then made another left onto the Great Gorge trail before ultimately arriving at Cucumber Falls and road hiked back to the visitor center area, it's a great loop with a lot of amazing views and waterfalls.
Check out our Facebook page and Instagram both can be found under Maksim Outdoors.
Thanks for stopping by.

After hiking this park twice now and plans to return this year I’ll definitely agree with you on it being a strong contender for one of the best state parks in Pennsylvania. From the trails, falls, river chock full of stunning rapids I hope to ride the wave train on one day soon, rock water slides, scenic gorge overlook, a visitor center second to none for its education, presentation, and integrated view of the river, proximity to the Falling Water UNESCO heritage site, and quaint village with some great food and beer this park absolutely has it all and much more. And you did an absolute banger of a job highlighting it with some great angles, beautiful shots (the small shot looking up under the rock overhang when the water drops on the lens right before you step over it *chefs kiss*), using the natural ambience of the park to its fullest, and a great choice of color grading on the drab browns and grays of a snowless PA winter backdrop that can be a challenge to present and hype to viewers! This was PA perfect man.

Agreed. Look up "Ohiopyle Ear Boulder" which is at the Dartmouth Rapids boulder field on the Fern Cliff side of the Youghiogheny River. The Ear Boulder, the G Boulder and the Cave Boulder section along the Darthmouth Rapids you can see the best eroded interesting boulders in the park. I call the best of the park, the "Big 4". a) Main Falls b) Meadow Run Slides c) Cucumber Falls d) High Bridge. And when you do the park a few dozen or more times, seeing the big four at different river heights, then you see the river's power to slowly slowly erode the rock plates and boulders. I have playlists of the "potholes" in the main areas. And playlists on beaver "trash" the sticks beaver's leae their teeth marks in, which make nice walking sticks sometimes. And my all time favorite of the main areas, is Darthmouth Rapids boulder area on the Fern Cliff side of the river, which is pretty challenging scrambling to get to and enjoy. Best park for sure. I call the number 5, the information center nearer town, and be sure to go to the lower level with the floor to celing windows. Two things there, one is the video display of the last hundreds of millions of years how the rock eroded (and right next to it the actual main park rocks types to see and feel, and when you hike next time, you can ID what rock you see); and two, the big center display of the whole park. I have a thousand videos of just the main areas along the river, my retirement hobby.

I love how you did the introduction on this video. I think it helped me as a viewer understand how special this place is. Awesome looking waterfall, tall trees and river views.

Yeah it’s something I’m trying to do more to give a better sense of the areas, it’s a bit more work but I feel it really adds to the videos, thanks for stopping by!

Wow, I love the cgi intro. I don’t know how long you’ve been using it but it’s great. Is it just me or are you using a lot of different angles here? That river looks pretty big and rough in certain parts. I heard of this park many times and seen it in other videos. I really like all the river views. It also seems like it’s very wild and untamed which im enjoying. 👍

First time I used that intro, I was trying to go for a “different” style since this was kind of a different ambient video. I started using 3 cameras now so it gives me a bit more flexibility when it comes to videoing so there was definitely some different angles, the yough is for sure a wild river! Thanks for stopping by Craig!

Why do you use that weird filter? Everything looks desaturated and grey.
