Just want to share my experience with this kit, I haven’t watched the full build here yet but will. I built it back in 2015, I have a build thread on Genessis models and international scale modeller forums if anyone is interested. I used aftermarket cockpit and PE. I also spent about a month cutting in recessed panel lines and rivets. Maybe inaccurately in the end but I think it did add to the finish. It ended up taking about six months of pretty solid build time to finish. And nearly burned me out more than once, but I persisted. The finished product is awesome, if you want to spend the time and effort to finish it. And it’s usually one of the first models I pull out of the display cabinet if I want to impress anyone. Although that doesn’t happen as often as I’d like… anyway, looking forward to watching this build and the challenges ahead.

I suppose the tooling for the kit came out in 1980 so the Tamiya standard wasn't as high back then as it is today. In saying that I would love to see them scale up the tooling for the 1:48 version to 1:32 because the 1:48 is simply amazing.

Sadly, this is what all of this particular kit. However, I hope that my whining throughout the build will give you enough warning of the gotchas I ran into so you can make a better go of it than I was able! :) Good luck!

I agree with you that my expectations from Tamiya were much higher then i got from the kit. Parts doesnt fit as i expected and some details are real shitty. The steering stick looks more like a erotica toy! I even used the steering stick from Revells F15 Eagle wich is super detailed.

aye.. it is a wee bit disappointing. It just means I get to practice skills - including patience. :)
