+Chuck Flowers I went to Cote Brilliante School with the O'Neals. They were in 7-high and I was in 8-low - there was no middle school, what they used to call "junior high school", back then - but we were in the same classroom, since, back in the '40's, all colored schools in The Lou were always overcrowded. The kids who grew up to be The 5th Dimension were at Cote Brilliante, in 7-low, at that time. The twins were well-known as gospel-singers, even then, but didn't anybody predict that they were going to grow up to be internationally famous! I used to live at 4559 Page from 1942-1950, across the street from Pleasant Green. Where Pleasant Green's parking lot is was where the St. Louis Ice Cream Company building was, in those days, and there was no stoplight there. We used to have streetcars on Page, on Taylor, and on Easton (Martin Luther King). And sycamore trees were *everywhere*! Things are fair different, nowadays.

It boggles me how much this sounds like something I’d hear on the radio in the MoTown era. It truly reveals how much popular mainstream music stems from the evolution of the blues through jazz and into something uniquely all those things and more. Here we have the content, which is religious in general, but when you add the specificity of the performers emotional appeal/evangelical joy? It’s a whole other level. Also “the case dismissed case dismissed case dismissed” bridge is the kind of bridge that must drive Stevie Wonder crazy he didn’t write or use. There is an awesome pop hit somewhere that uses a sample from this performance.
