This song takes me back to those days in Norfolk Virginia when children could play outside in safety and peace! Catch fireflies, make mud pies, play hop-scotch, marbles and skate in safe neighborhoods but be back to the house by 6p.m. for dinner with the entire family giving thanks to God for being so good! Praise God for the ministry of Rev. Barnes and those that are committed to the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My comment is not to condemn but to enlighten. The song, Rough Side of the Mountain, a stable song in the church, has an error that must be shared. There is nothing a person can do " to make it in;" that is getting into heaven, our sin prevents. It is like taking a dirty cloth to clean a dirty counter. The dirt is still there. Jesus Christ is the only cloth that can clean us from our sins. Acts 4:12 declares, salvation from sin is only in the name of Jesus Christ. Don't allow this take away the meaning of how rough life is. Just remember, what can wash away our sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus
