My mother was the pianist & organist for our birth church, Newstead Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis, Mo. where I grew up. She had me & my sister. Lucy sing in the Ladies Chorus at the Lucy age of 10 yrs & me 13 yrs. We didn’t 😮sing in the young people choir. So, we sang in the Ladies Chorus until we graduated from high school & went off to Lincoln University. We sang this song “Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross” which was one of her favorite & mind now.
