There’s nothing like listening to the old gospel music that brought us through some tumultuous decades of oppression. It brings you strength and endurance to keep going on and forward making changes that will bless us. Woooo😭😭😭😭😭✨🙏🏽✨✨✨🙏🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🌹🌹🌹

See, that's what makes Black Christian singers from times past so great -- they can blend on the spot and sing from the heart unto God. But it takes a lot of work to hold it all together as Bro. Cleveland shows. So glad this popped into my feed today.

I am elated whenever I listen to this wonderful uplifting song. I praises be to God for such foundational gospel music. I remember the Roberta Martin singers as a young choir director in the mid to late 1950s. All the warm, gripping heartfelt music isn't written or seldom performed these days. If only churches of today would sing these inspirational songs, we as the church of God would be so much better off.

I LOVE Delois Barrett Campbell's singing! If I remember, I read somewhere that the late Marian Williams of the Clara Ward Singers said that Delois' voice opens up like a rose! Her color, phrasing, expression, delivery, and especially anointing is unquestionably superb. I'm elated that this theme song of the Roberta Martin Singers was recorded again. They are my favorite classical black gospel group. I learned how to first play gospel on the piano and organ by listening to Roberta play piano and Lucy Smith-Collier play organ and piano - also James Cleveland. I grew up on their records from an early age.

Such a beautiful tribute. I don't remember the Martin singers. But I can remember being so impressed and blessed by the Barrett Sisters singing on the Bobby Jones show on Sunday mornings. Your description of her voice, singing, delivery and anointing could not have been said any better. Beautiful comment.

To God, Jesus, Rev. James Cleveland and the Chicago Chapter of the Metro Mass Choir. This Vessel Of God, this 24 year old Black Minister in the year 2024 thanks you. I remember somwhere in this album Rev. Cleveland talks about how this style of Gospel and the pioneers of said Gospel music was the inspiration behind the gathering was for us to understand that Gospel like this is the kind that get you through the week, through your toughest times, and reminds you just what God can do. They say that every generation must answer the question what/where is Jesus for them. He was in there music and thanks to this recording and streaming that we have today we can find him here too. I can’t tell you how many times God had allowed this song and album to prepare my sermon and prepared me to preach the sermon!

Life before the destruction of beautiful and uncomplicated Black people who loves to worship God through Christ ❤️ I get the chills watching them because it was a sweeter, gentler time in America!
