lived there 3 years. Difficult... It is nice, but it is not a Metropole. Opportunities are quite limited (in many ways). Sun aint everything :) Now in Barcelona and there is no comparison of the plentyness of stuff you can do and have here in comparison. If you head for property, take into account, that if you for whatever reason once will need to work there locally it will be hard and also you have the "giri" factor. As long people take your money, everything is great, of course :)

Nellie when you visit Sevilla you may want to have a coffee at "El Viajero Sendentario" at the Alameda de Hercules. It is a little Café with tons of books and interesting knick knacks. It has a great atmosphere and better people behind the counter. I don't drink coffee, but my wife loved it there. So you and Greg should be able to get your morning fix! I can write for ever about Granada... I liked it that much. But a great thing to remember is to get to the restaurants relatively early so you can get a high table (you'll notice they are toward the front of the restaurants). So with each wine glass you'll get a free tapas... cheapest way to eat in Granada!

I really want to move to Malaga but I'm worried it will be hard to find a good social group or a girlfriend. I don't speak Spanish and I'm really bad at languages. I speak a bit French but Spain seems better for remote workers. Are there many foreigners? Is it much better to learn Spanish and integrate? I feel like English speaking countries are cold and/or expensive.
@whatsupbudbud2 жыл бұрын
Social groups take time. I reckon' it might take a year to get started. Spanish is not hard at all but you need practice and living on the spot is the best practice you can get. Then it's all up to you - do you purposefully look for connections to practice Spanish, go do activities where you can meet people, are open socially (smile a lot, etc.) and so on.

I'm transferring to Malaga University next year from Southampton, it seems like one of the best universities in southern Spain, and the people I've met so far have been so nice. Most of the cheapest accommodation in Malaga seems to be student accommodation and so many bars have student deals, so I'd definitely say it's a student area if you stay close to the city centre / campus. As for the variety of Spanish, most of what I've heard they have an Andalusian accent where they don't pronounce the 'S' as clearly, but it's easy to get used to. Hope this helped!

I would not return to UK in a box! The place is in chaos, you only have to compare the fatalities of the covid 19 to realise how much better off we are in Spain. There is also respect for authority here I.e. If the police tell you to do something then it's done, not back chatted or V signed. When people come here with a view to live they should remember that it is a foreign country and things are different, it's not Blackpool pleasure beach with decent weather. Best move I made all day long. X

You see all government offices close at 14:00 then reopen at 17:00. Somethings it is best to employ a local solicitor as I did for my Spanish driving licence, simple straight forward one for one swop. Only took 12 months and 3 days, the traffic office kept sending it back with just the car licence on it, which being a professional truck and bus driver is no good to man nor beast.
