The "Hi-Z" (high impedance) antenna connector is specifically designed for an end-fed long wire, as these present a high impedance to the radio. The 50 ohm option is appropriate for a balanced dipole, Yagi or commercial VHF/UHF antenna.

This video was perfect for me. Still haven't got my DSP2, it's passed customs, so it's close. I'll get myself a Discone for the garden, but quick question. Can a long wire, part of it, lie actually on/over the roof, ams run the length of the small garden? I live in a bungalow, so roof, garden everything is quite small. Thanks

I did a long wire across the fence of my garden along the parameter... although not perfect, after sundowndown I can hear a big chunk of the world! The wire is approx. 19 meters long...

May I ask how you connected the long wire to the DSP2 I just clipped mine onto the end of the antenna but I dont want the sma on the dsp2 to be under any stress so do you have a video showing how you made your connection. Cheers and I just got mine and binge watching your vids to get up to speed.

Get a sma to so239 that has a small thin coax cable between loads on amazon .

An antenna that's easy and cheap to make: Buy two galvanized funnels, insert them into a section of PVC pipe with a "T" on the end of it. Solder coax, glue in the funnels, VOILA, a VHF broadband dipole antenna. If you want to get KRAZY, add a balun. I use one in the attic, works great. Also have two pieces of copper icemaker line bent into a spiral, that works great too...!!! K8TND 😊

I live in a flat on the first floor(2nd floor if you're American), I have no balcony or permission to use an external aerial(council property). I was intending to get a loop aerial like the GA-450 SW. Should I cancel my order while I still can?

Disculpe por escribir en español. He traducido su video y es muy instructivo. Tengo una duda sobre el aparato. Cuando selecciono en el menu de radio "sw antenna", no se ilumina en verde "50 ohm" en la pantalla. Sin embargo si en el menu radio activo "pwr ant", se pone en rojo "50 ohm". He leido el manual de instrucciones. No encuentro la forma de que "50hm" se active en verde cuando la selecciono. Estara mi aparado dsp2 defectuoso?. Muchas gracias si puede ayudarme u orientarme.
