I realize that most of these comments are very old and people seem to thrown off by the use of the right hand for mala but for the Tibetans there is really no fast rule for which hand to use just as wearing the mala beads on the wrist. You will see monks and lamas wear their malas on the right wrist as well. Typically you will see left hand use for both but really it is personal preference unless of course for certain tantra that call for a specific hand otherwise then just do as your lama/guru instructs you to do if you don't have teacher then just use the hand you feel comfortable using. Thank you for all the so nice videos! 😃📿🕉️🙏🕉️📿

I think there’s a reason why lama/gurus can use the right as well as the left and why we should use the left hand. If you want to follow dharma or teachings it will almost always be the left otherwise do as you wish…

Yes, left hand and in a giving direction, outward. That's how I learnt from my lama.

Eva Maria Thanks for this Eva. Tibetans do both. It's common to use the trengwa in the left hand when you have a manilago (small prayer wheel) in your right hand. Otherwise it is popular to do either.

The beads are always drawn towards the self in Buddhism and Hinduism. Not sure who your lama is but pushing the beads outward is unheard of in these traditions.

Hi Konichiwa. Normally people use the mala in the left, but really it's okay either way. We don't believe there is a rule about it.

For buddhist you must use your left hand as it directly connects to heart.
