I am sorry but what exactly do you mean when you associate Islam and malay culture. I am not denying that malay culture is not derived from Islam as the religion is already passed down since the Malaccan sultanate. But your intrepretation of the so called islamic culture is quite inaccurate. First, Islam does not wipe any non malay culture because Islam is not originated from the malay archipelago. Instead, the religion welcomes practices of other culture besides the arab's as long as it is not syirik(associating god with statues or idol). Therefore the islamic culture is the local culture which does not contain any syirik. One of them is giving hong bao during eid. Come from the chinese culture but is practiced by many muslims because it shows charity and generosity and so on. From the video, I personally think that the groom fully understands of the journey he is about to embark. To avoid alcohol, non halal substances, the laws and so on. But needless to say, no religion would spread wide and fast if all you are talking about is the donts and do's. The beauty of Islam itself needs to be discovered by oneself and for him, he has found his happiness. And for you my good sir, I pray you too will find your asnwer. Peace be upon you.
