Malay Girl Flawlessly Performs Lion Dance With Her Chinese Partner

A video of a Malay girl performing a lion dance routine while wearing the hijab recently went viral on TikTok
In the video posted by user @ahpeng2830, two dancers can be seen performing a lion dance routine for a competition.
Throughout their energetic and joyful performance, the audience applauds the duo and appears to be impressed by their chemistry and polished routine.
Once their routine reaches the end, the dancers take off their costumes and receive another round of applause from the audience.
The camera then zooms in on the dancer who performed at the front of the lion dance routine, who happens to be a Malay girl dressed in black and wearing a hijab.
"This is 1Malaysia," wrote the TikTok user in the video's caption.
Malaysians were blown away by the girls' performance of the traditional Chinese dance and left supportive comments
One user commented that they were moved when they saw a hijabi performing the lion dance.
Meanwhile, another user commented that they were surprised by the performance and congratulated the girls for performing their routine flawlessly.
"Whatever it is, that lion is so cute," they added.:
INDULGING in lion dance performance is a strenuous activity definitely not for the faint-hearted - what more for hijab-clad Siti Aishah Mohd Farulnizam who courageously lugged the lion head to deliver a jaw-dropping lion dance performance on high stilts.
The 16-year-old pupil of Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SMJKC) Sacred Heart in Balik Pulau raised eyebrows to a roaring applause by audience alongside her ‘sisterly’ Loh Foong Kee who is twice her age at 27 handling the lion’s tail.
For the record, Foong Kee is the daughter of Siti Aishah’s coach Loh Woon Sim. Performance by the duo which was uploaded on TikTok by user Ah Peng has at time of writing generated over 2.2 million views, over 112,900 likes and 5,498 comments.
Siti Aishah who joined a lion dance troupe when she was five started by playing the drum and cymbals before moving on to the lion head when she was nine, according to a report published by Star Metro in Feb 22, 2018.
She is not the only one among her six siblings who’s in the lion dance troupe. Her other four siblings including the youngest, who is eight years old, are also performers in the troupe.

I'm African-American and I love watching The Lion and Dragon Dance. I think it's totally awesome it's well put together and well-executed. Full salute to the whole team esp the girl on the back. Such a strong legs and back. So many movement require for the front girl to step on her with most of the time needed to bend over. And the front girl what a strong hands to carry such a big head while jumping around. And the music team. Saw this dance in another video. this is a serious competition level lion dance contest, with a system of points being awarded. nampak simple, but physically demanding. look how the girls are exhausted after the performance. ini mmg tengok skill level, artistic and difficulties, plus the story line. mantap. Only in Malaysia !!

Of course Islam always advocate harmonious co existence but its dominant and minorities follow main law abide by Islam and culture tradition of main Melayu and Muslims diff race of Msia . In Arab countries dominant Arab Muslims but Christian Jews live peacefully and abide by general rules.All entitled to own religion custom done privately. Laikrar fi deen.No compulsion in religion. Yes free bu done privately like US Europe for Muslims Buddhist Hindu etc . But problem starts when the minorities try to exert themselves beyond boundaries tak suka azan kata bising tak suka BM nak BI dan Mandarin.Must celebrate culture tradition openly must have public holidays w temples shrines churches everywhere. Problem is as there are many good chinese people, there are many who are bad one too. Those who do not appreciate tolerance and kindness of Malay people. Me experienced this personally. My father rizab tanah melayu land sold cheaper to a chinese company who sneakily using another malay name as dummy. How this can be done? By the help of a non malay exco in our state. Strange thing is, the freehold land in my area are pretty cheap too. Why they went after malay reserve land is kinda puzzling. My father land is not strategic nor profitable in terms of revenue compared to those freehold land in our area. So the rumours that certain planning of chinese taking over malay reserve land in unlawful way is not rumors after all. I wonder how many other malay reserve land are taken using this sneaky way.
