I'm curious about who they had in mind when they were creating the requirements. They have made the program, in my opinion, completely unattractive. $1 million in a fixed deposit? In a steadily weakening currency? Who does that? Obviously the government only wants rich people to apply, but the $1 million fixed deposit tells me they want stupid rich people. And you were exactly on point about the housing market. Buying a house in the Malaysian market where the minimum price is fixed is a bonanza for the developer. Some of the big pols and royalty have stakes in the struggling development projects, especially Forest City in Johor.

Would like to see where the Tax Exemption part is mentioned. While not implemented yet, the taxation of world wide income versus remittances is not good for this option. If income is exempt, or is kept at remittances, the liability can be accounted for.

no smart person would invest in Ringgit or Malaysia real estate when it is guaranteed to lose value over time. check the facts. this program not only ask for large amount of capital but it locks it in an foreign institution for the duration of the stay in addition to locking the real estate that has no resale market and overwhelming supply to become available in the years ahead. instead, they should call it an investment visa.

I got my MM2H back in 2016. Is there any requirement that I should now comply with? Specifically the 90 days minimum stay?

Hi. Is the Platinum option renewable after 20 years? I do not want to come to Malaysia in my 40s and then have to leave in my 60s if such a visa is not renewable.

Majority of Austalians cannot afford this, Proves how Corrupt and Incompetent the government is by massively lowering living standards for Australians. Look at OECD stats, Australia in not in the top 10%. GDP per person has been falling for some time. I know of Malaysians who are sending their children to Australian university as they can then stay in Australia and their parents can wash money by buying real estate in Australia.

UGH sounds like more bullshit. retired at 33 in USA no income and have cash in bank for a nice house/apartment but when they go and put minimum purchase's for a property that high that kinda defeats the purpose for us young and reasonably well off but not rich people.

When will we be able to start the process for the special economic zone? Also, if you buy property in the special economic zone, can you rent it out and still live and buy property up by KL?
