Not necessarily. Most foreigners never had to learn Malay because Malaysians speak English, but learning essential Malay words would be good.

Best practicing? Nope. Im Malaysian muslim. Some of the mosques use louspeakers too loud and disturbing the residents. Most schools "FORCE" the muslim girls to wear hijab, non hijab students will be subject to harsh abusive labelling as kaffir, hell dwellers etc. We musllims eapecially in the east coast litter rubbish on the roadside, everywhere. The muslim & non muslim ministers, politicians in Malaysia are corrupted, take bribes and talk rubbish in the parliament. We are just lucky that US and China decided to invest here recently.

Yup! The older Malaysians do speak better English than the younger generation! The younger set tend to speak Americanese, with the rolling (cringe!) Rs! Minus proper grammar. 😅 Mutually intelligible but you know you're not in an Anglo environment 😊😊😊

All malaysian can speak n understand english so are our grand parents n baby boomers generation they did learned English in school it was already compulsory to attend school n english is a compulsory subject in school Tahfiz now teaches English too..... U good to learn malay as bahasa melayu is the national lamguage

The older generation in Malaysia speaks decent English or none at all (for the majority who lives in the villages). Maybe he came across the ones who spoke decent English. Whereas the newer generation English subject across all the schools is compulsory. Hence you'll get some groups who speaks excellent English, the large majority so so to broken English, and in the small towns they may understand what you're saying, but will have difficulty to respond or rather shy, as opposed to the olden days where it's near to zilch English.

Malaysian basically loves those who comes to love Malaysia. But sometime we are wary too ... bcoz some never understood the struggle to be a peaceful multicultural country. Sometime they bring all these 'thoughts & practices' from their own problematic country & tried to implement it here in Malaysia. No, I'm not just talking about religion. Tho there are some fanatic religious outsiders that looked down on non Muslim & the Malaysian culture. Some western foreigners who came here got mad that they cannot go topless on the beach. Or call us outdated for not allowing public PDA. Like .. really? (Facepalm) Some Malaysian remembered those foreigners who couldn't understand why Malaysian are mad coz they went topless on Mount Kinabalu. Not forgetting all those beg packers. BTW, I'm frm East Malaysia & stayed in KL for 20 yrs.

He is just trying to promote his country with whatever they have. Nothing wrong with it. Beside.. we are living with too many foreigners nowadays. so for whom who dumb enough dont research before travelling and listen to this kind of comment, let them go to indonesia. We dont want dumb people who is at the end burden our own country. A non researcher tourist is usually dumb. So let those dumb who believe without research go to indo and let the people who are brilliant came to us.
