Well travelled Stu. At least you got there safely. You look as though you need a good sleep.

We took the train journey from Penang last year. Very interesting. For backpacking, crossing the ‘manual rail crossing’ is ok, but dragging luggage’s across is damaging. I saw some white dudes dragging 2 large luggage.

I’ve seen a lot of ‘backpackers’ carrying suitcases bigger than me! Lol Backpack in my back and I’m happy!

The cursed mosque and the temple next to it in Songkhla. Since you evaded The Hacked Stone and the aborigines in Malaysia.

Older Back, where do you get the energy from to walk the heat and humidity?

How many days can you stay in Thailand? And did they stamp your passport?
@olderbackpacker
@olderbackpacker 23 сағат бұрын
Yeah they stamped my passport and I’ve just checked, it’s 60 days!!! Not bad!

Ha ha I’m not even a fan of cricket! But it’s a talking point in hostels! People come over and ask what part of Australia I’m from, I tell them I’m from England and a conversation has started! Lol

@olderbackpacker Proteas fan here (Boks too.) Cricket, Rugby (strictly Union), F1... My sports are those that spread with your Commonwealth. Cricket becomes a lot more visceral on the Subcontinent. Being in India and seeing the IPL might be worth a few thin days. Even for a non cricket lover. (Not a soccer fan in general, but second and third division games in domestic leagues are great times. The fans are excellent; the sports quality is humorous.) Wander On

Ummmmm, why would you be arrested in Thailand. Check news re Myanmar early and often. News in States says rebels have taken a (2nd) key stronghold. Go where you will, just be careful.

I’m going to be doing so much research as I get closer and find out where is safer to go!

@olderbackpacker Just be safe. I have zero idea of your routing preferences. But India to ANY neighbor (save Nepal and Bhutan possibly which does not solve the issue on the next border) will be a lot less like entering Thailand. Beyond India lie places my government suggests I not go (American; and it seems fundamentally sound for Americans to follow.) Afghanistan and Persia will have to wait for me. Sigh. Pakistan from India is viable but harder. Bangladesh is in a transition state. The Sino-India border scares me (ok, I am not brave.) Once past there? The Middle East. Ooof. Boat to Kenya, overland to Nigeria, up to Morocco to get to Spain seems pretty fraught too. Ok, that's all a bit dramatic. And, as always: your journey = your rules. There's the difference between a Voyager and a voyeur! Just make good decisions and stay in touch with your Foreign Ministry as appropriate. Wander!
