If you ever decide to open a restaurant...may I suggest the name as " Ichang's Malaysian Delights" (LOL) ....All of sudden , getting hungry again just looking at this... LOL ...Nasi Ayam or Hainanese Chicken Rice which ever version or variety you prefer can pretty much quite easily found in every part of Malaysia...Stay safe, take care and keep creating contents.... Cheers!

That’s very Malaysian of you two Jimmy & iChang. 🥰❤️ For the soup, you can cut fresh parsley & spring onion leaves and add into the soup before you serve it with the rice. You may also add a dash of salt in the rice when you cook the rice, or you may add the salt earlier while boiling the chicken.

It is indeed a common food to go to any day any week. But It has various styles. I like the one with ginger sauce (usually looks like white sauce) and chili sauce and of course with soy sauce. It is delicious! But yours look the one they usually served in home-cook and kenduri here in Malaysia which is special. Love your eating video and Ichang is very good in speaking Bahasa now.

We don’t usually add butter to cook the rice, instead, you might like to try adding some salt and pepper when you lightly fry the rice and add in some pandan leafs and lemongrass to cook the rice with the chicken stock.

for the sambal, my mom always blend it with tomato so it has that tangy taste!! and use the less spicy chili because usually nasi ayam isn’t the pedas type of food. and if u want stronger chicken taste, u can cook the rice with ready made chicken stock or chicken cube! i recommend the maggi chicken stock ❤️

In fact, there are two main type of nasi ayam, Malay type usually nasi ayam goreng and Chinese type Nasi ayam Hainan, which is usually boiled chicken, but I heard there is a special technique. The Chicken has to be boiled n later chilled(dipped in ice) later boilo in hot water again, to produce the "springy effect." Rice are cooked in chicken broth and lastly, the magic chillies sauce . . .

Malay style nasi ayam is very good in its own way. The problem with this type of nasi ayam that are sold ubiquitously in Malaysia was about the ayam itself. Many of the shops/operators selling it took the shortcuts and therefore, resulting the chicken to be quickly hardened - not fun to eat anymore - unlike in this iChang video, which is very delicious and won't become hardened.

If I'm not mistaken, Malaysian Chinese version of Hainanese Chicken Rice also come with a side dish like Char Siu (BBQ Pork) and stir-fry bean sprouts. While, Malaysian Malay version used Honey Chicken and Roasted Chicken. Steamed Chicken is more popular among Malaysian Chinese version of chicken rice.

Since butter is pricey, most of Malaysian dishes relies on margarine/planta as butter alternative. Food court Nasi Ayam most likely to rely on margarine more than chicken stock for rice. But of course Malaysian love fusions, with Hainan style steamed chicken or bbq/soy sauce version. Best to add soft tofu as side dish too!

They call it Wenchang chicken over there (named after Wenchang province) which is the founding place for basic hainanese chicken rice. Of coz, the migrants from hainan will use local ingredients in SEA particularly Msia and SG to recreate some of the elements eg chilli paste. If these hainanese migrants nvr started to experiment and came up with our local hainanese chicken rice fare, the other dialect groups and eventually other races may have never get to enjoy and remodify the recipe to their individual taste and version. Just like how curry from India changed our food landscape here in Msia and SG too.

1. Nasi ayam is a common dish in Malaysia. Malay version tend to use fried chicken, like you did. Chinese version is either steamed or roasted. Also when serving, Malay version uses lettuce, cucumber and tomatoes as sides, while I believe the chinese version only provides cucumber. The Malay soup is very simple, the hainanese soup may have more things inside like peanuts etc. 2. Yes. But every restaurant serves a slightly different version. So u try a few and pick your favorite.

Basically in Malaysia we have a few styles for the chicken: hainanese chicken/steamed chicken, roasted chicken or fried style (usually marinade with honey, soy sauce, oyster sauce bpepper/bbq sauce) For the rice, instead of butter you can use Planta margarine because it has this particular fragrant smell and gives a really nice yellow colour to the rice.

Nasi ayam originally from China, when Chinese malaysian make it other malaysian try to make on their own version That what are happened in malaysia, when Chinese make nasi ayam hainanese, Malay and Indian will create something similar with it. The way ichang cook nasi ayam was hainanese version of rice, Malay style after they put chicken fat, butter, garlic, onion, and ginger, we put cinnamon stick and star anise.. After fee minute put in rice and a bit tumeric powder for color. That all Other than that same with typical Malay nasi ayam 😁😁😁 Your ayam is ayam madu version.. Regular without honey.. For chicken their is few way to cook it, there no right or wrong but the important is MESTI SEDAP BAK HANG 😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂

1) first boil the chicken. do not throw chicken broth ❌ cause it is the main ingredient in making nasi ayam 2) u can use this broth for making chilli, soy sauce, soup and rice 3) then take out the chicken, and marinate with soy sauce and oyster sauce 4) u can use the leftover marinate sauce for making soy sauce later 5) then fried the chicken 6) for chilli, blend chilli. put a little bit chicken broth, vinnegar and seasoning (same goes for soy sauce) its my style.. feel free to try
