Not sure why this was aimed at black women. Sounds like you're trying to divide us. Most black women know black men cared. And did you even know that black women mentored Malcolm X? Their names were Audley Moore AKA The Queen Mother and Vicky Garvin. Most people have never heard of them because black women are always put to the back of the bus and forgotten. Plenty of black women also fought for our history. Afterall, men are nothing without women. We hold up half of the sky. Black history has been a struggle for both men and women. Black women still suffer from misogyny, as well as racism. Remember to respect your mothers who gave birth to you and raised you. Malcolm's wife had to take care of the six children after he died. I remember at a speech where she had been critical of some of the brothers who had not asked to lend a hand with her having to raise the kids alone. She upheld Malcolm's views after he died. His wife also worked hard for the black community and promoted Malcolm's views after he died. Make sure black you also respect her. Since black women are going to be mentioned, I just thought it would be nice to mention some black women who were also influential. Almost anyone can named and talk about black male figures but can't name a single black woman. Yet white people have no problem mentioning white women in their history.

The criticism of JFK by Malcolm X was really made out of ignorance. Malcolm X didn't appreciate the politics of Kennedy's situation. Kennedy knew he couldn't do anything unless he was re-elected. Kennedy was very pragmatic. If you listen to Kennedy's speeches and Malcolm's speeches after returning from Africa, the ideas of both men were quite similar. It's not surprising that Kennedy and Malcolm were murdered by the same group of people, the CIA and American fascists, for many of the same reasons.

In 1963, Malcolm X went on a pilgrimage to Mecca, the birthplace of the Islamic faith. He completely changed his mind about religion, race relations, and violence on that journey. He converted to Islam, and abandoned his belief in violence and separation. Instead, he began to hope for a true brotherhood of all races. He changed his name to El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz to mark what he said was his journey from darkness to the light. Unfortunately, El-Shabazz fell victim to Black Muslims who still saw violence as the solution to racial problems. Three men shot him to death as he gave a speech in Manhattan in February 1965. His legacy, however, continues.

Given the change in socio-political climate here in the Good Ol USA 🇺🇸 right now, I’m not gonna disclose my ethnicity, but, having a Ph. D in History and Poli Sci (and another in Religious Studies), AND being a long-term stand-in teacher for my daughter (who is currently the Headmistress at a private school that she and her brothers graduated from), I would like to throw MY 2 cents into the ring… The above aside, first off, I teach American 🇺🇸 Studies @ my kids’ alma mater. Also, I’m VERY passionate about said academic field, for the following reasons, aside from already being retired since late 2016: 1.) I was in the USMC from 1987-2002 (ret. as an O-3, medical discharge); 2.) Worked for the Dept of Defense from 1997-2007 (as a liaison, so I could get my military pension); 3.) Five yrs as a Security CM @ the Disneyland Resort (a Marine buddy got me on; also, a little extra $$$ when I adopted my kids, raising em as a single dad); &… 4.) Was w/ the ILWU (Longshoreman) from 2003-16 (ret. as a Logistics Manager). Anyway… Last yr, during an “open forum” session in one of my classes, Malcolm X AND Dr. Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. were the topics of discussion (Apologies, I was building up to this…😁!!!). Even though the majority of the students body is Caucasian, there is still an abundant ethnic diversity, especially in my classes. Collectively, we agreed on the following: 1.) BOTH, Malcolm X AND Rev. Dr. MLK Jr., are equally respected, by ALL ethnicities; 2.) As Zach de la Rocha of Rage Against the Machine states in his Renegades track, both ARE worthy of being called “Renegades”, no debate there; 3.) If they DO differ, then they differ as follows- A-Mr. X KINDA has the “right idea” about the duty of not just Blacks, but Whites, Asians, etc., to return to wherever it is their ancestors originated from (e.g., if we can’t get along together, then maybe we can get along separated); B-While MLK Jr. BELIEVED it was possible for “Blacks, Whites, Jews, Gentiles, [etc.]” to live peacefully, even if it meant HE would never live to see it, there was a LOT of healing and reconciliation to be…administered; &… 4.) While the majority of one of my classes agreed that Mr. X’s solution was the most realistic AND practical, it was ultimately IMPOSSIBLE, unless the Reparations-which were first suggested prior to Reconstruction and later expanded on during the Kennedy-Johnson era-were made, then NOBODY was going ANYWHERE…PERIOD!!!!!! Now, as far as the “chickens coming home to roost”?!?!?! That topic could not be carried through to conclusion in a classroom “forum” alone. I gave my students an assignment on “What DOES Malcolm X’s statement meant to YOU, and how does it apply to OUR Time, OUR Present?” I don’t have time to recap EVERY students’ answers, but I will say this topic makes a strong case for the teacher ALSO being the student!!! Here’s a few…answers: 1.) While one can appreciate that “those who do not learn from History, are doomed to repeat it”, one TRIES to learn from the lessons of the past, but when you have 6-7 billion+ differing opinions, then we are ultimately NOT allowed to learn from History⚠️⚠️⚠️ 2.) The Wiccan philosophy of “what goes around, COMES back around” (what you send out, will EVENTUALLY come back on you x 3 minimum⚠️⚠️⚠️); 3.) The Boomerang 🪃 Parable-Knowledge and Power are like any weapon (conventional or WMD): they can just as harmful to the user as they can to the intended target!!! Also, Knowledge and Power “go both ways” (think about it!!!); &… 4. In a system of Checks & Balances in a country such as the USA 🇺🇸, term limits in the Executive don’t leave much room for long-term “scheming”, unlike the Legislative and Judicial Branches. In the Executive Branch, the only thing that really changes is the individual who occupies the White House and holds the job as POTUS (the new POTUS either trying to undo or uphold the efforts of their predecessors) Presidents come and go, but the Senators, Representatives, and Justices are left to ponder whether those “chickens coming home to roost” as the result of the Executive actions will have a negative effect or not. But, like I said earlier, this IS a part of American 🇺🇸 History I DO find fascinating…😁. Let us not give in to Critical Race Theory. For when we DO, we might as well counter with: “…well then, THEORETICALLY, whose RACE are you CRITICIZING (think about that as well!!!)?!?!?! And so, as I tell MY classes…”any more questions? Any more objections?? Good 👍🏻, then…Class, DIS-MISSED!!!”…😄.

@AgaMbadi also he was just repeating everything Elijah muhammad said because he viewed him as a divine man who saved his life. Eventually Malcolm realized though that Elijah was nothing but a fraud and left the nation. Afterwards, on his Hajj trip to Mecca, he articulated a view that was a change from his previous one. All people, whether white or black are equal. He said what he preached before was wrong and he was "awakened to the dangers of racism on both sides".

What did he say, because that sound bite, was not X, it was Denzel portraying him in the movie

I am still mad with malcom X he shouldn't have said that and I think that he would be angry with Obama if he was still alive and think that Kennedy is one of the greatest presidents of all time.

two wrongs don't seem to make a right in my mind. the fact that he has ample reason to believe he can choose a race to preach hate about, doesn't excuse the effect of his words. don't pretend this is an issue of open mindedness, just not true.
@jmartecep15 жыл бұрын
ok, I'll give you that. Answer this question for me, since racism is a learned behavior. Why do you think Malcolm X is racist? Or are you just not open minded enough to explore this.

Man That was four months ago. Hey, I'm not trying to change your mind, that's all up you to do by gathering information and using your critical thinking process. If you want Malcolm to be what ever you want him to be so be it. I thought we were just having a conversation. Peace.

I nvr understood how Elijah Muhammad spoke abt the ills and hate by white society but wanted to be mum when it came to events such as these..the truth is the truth. He spoke one thing and did another, being a southern boy he still feared whites IMO.. he loved that Malcolm had no fear was son like to him and expected him to cower when the time came he nvr understood that MX was like his biological father stern and upright truthful and righteous. Why he wanted them to be quiet when previously the police stormed the temple and killed a few and injured others. I’ll nvr know

Why on Earth have you got DENZEL WASHINGTON speaking at 2:38 ? That's from the movie Malcolm X. That is not honest in your video. You are making people thnk it is Malcolm speaking when it is not.
@TinyMK15 жыл бұрын
DaveKarl I’m guessing because there isn’t an actual audio clip that exists... I don’t really see how it’s dishonest when a) Malcolm X did indeed say that quote, and B) it was followed up with Malcolm X defending his reasoning for that choice of words and specifically stating it was not at all his intention to express any sort of happiness that the president was assassinated.
