Malcolm Young, former AC/DC rhythm guitarist, was the driving force behind AC/DC, the rock outfit that sold more than 200m albums over 40 years to become one of the highest-grossing bands of all time. His brother Angus, the band’s lead guitarist, may have been the most recognisable character in AC/DC, largely thanks to his habit of wearing school uniform on stage, but it was Malcolm whose inventive rhythm guitar and storming riffs formed the backbone of the band’s sound. Malcolm often took the crucial decisions about the band’s strategy, and he became notorious for abruptly firing various managers, producers and band members.
AC/DC rocketed into rock’s front rank with the release of Highway to Hell in 1979. Its swaggering juggernaut of a title track encapsulated everything that would make AC/DC great. Bass, drums and crushing guitar chords created a roaring bulldozer of sound, enhanced by Angus Young’s molten soloing, while the lead singer Bon Scott howled soulfully overhead.

I love AC/DC seen them on the stiff upper lip tour in Atlanta but to me and it's my opinion the greatest band ever is Overkill ,I know they are more thrash and heavy metal but to me they are the greatest band ever

Having read Brian Johnstone's autobiography, Life of Brian, which was a great read, he was gutted when Malcolm died, as well as band members, they were great mates. He said that Malcolm stood in the background, but was the driving force of the band. RIP Malcolm

Heard an interview years ago, years, it was with Angus and Angus was giving such praise to how Malcolm could play so hard and fast and keep tempo. Angus said I just follow me brother and laughed. The interviewer ask could Malcolm play the leads that you play though Angus? And Angus said Oh Yeah, quite easily. But Malcolm liked his role and Angus being more extroverted did his. While this interview was going on, they would break away to a live clip of just Malcolm playing and no shit that man played hard and fast and did not miss a beat. Also stated he didn't wanna fight the bloke either 😂.

I was born in November of 1971. As I became more aware of music I gained an interest in my older sibling’s record collections. People around my age got to experience a very fertile period in the history or modern music. We saw the advent of affordable electronic synthesizers and drum machines taking the baton from their analog predecessors, we saw MIDI and the digital age revolutionizing the whole music industry. We also got to see the genesis and eventual widespread successes of many very important bands like AC/DC, KISS, Van Halen, Motley Crue, REO Speedwagon and lots more. It was a great time to be alive and aware as a music fan.👍

I saw AC/DC AND SCORPIONS OPENING UP FOR TED NUGENT, BONN SCOTT WAS SINGING LESS THE A WEEK. BEFORE HIS DEATH. BACK THEN 3 BANDS COST TO SEE WAS $15.00.ALL 3 BANDS JUST TORE THE HOUSE DOWN. AT 62 STILL THE BEST SHOW I EVER SAW.

I read an interview with him before he got Dementia and it seemed he was ready to move on from Bon Scott before he unexpectedly died , most people don't realize he was the leader of the band , not Bon and both brothers , good or bad saw themselves as the core of the band and lead singers , drummers and bass players as secondary
