This video... unbelievable. Sean I did the same. I always asked my local video store for posters and... DENIED. All accept once when the video store owner gave me a counter standee for Child’s Play ‘88. I’ve also made a habit of collecting old horror VHS / Beta films as the sleeves & box art are still superior! I love these original one-sheets and look forward to seeing your entire collection!

Damn! Now i want to do the same and get me some cool posters and store them like that! I've always loved movie posters. When I was younger, I used to cut them out of newspapers and past them into a scrapbook. I also invented them by drawing them. It's a really interesting and creative art form in the sense that it forces you to summarize the essence of an idea artistically and in a single image. I even remember that these were some of my favorite books at the local bookstore. ''Fright Night'' and ''Lost Boys'' definitely have to be some of my favorite posters. ''The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas'' with Burt & Dolly too. They don't make them like that anymore. I'm already having fun making a mental list of posters I would buy for my collection. In your case, having them signed by artists must be a real emotional treasure. Great video!

It's interesting that most bikers and horror movie enthusiasts are so neat and kind. A shrink would probably say they purge their monsters by participating in the movie plot at some level. Like a psychodrama. Until they see the ax. Kidding ;) Your priceless posters are beautifully kept and I hope you've put them on your will so it stays in the family. Nobody will try anything for as long as those chainsaws are kept ready. Seriously though, amazing posters. I plan on acquiring that wonderful sleeves binder one day myself, after seeing this. Sean, the rare poster for the Friday part 8 teaser is the bloody version, very few exist. However the sheet you have is actually pretty common. Also the Harold and Maude is a 1978 rerelease, better than the original one sheet by far. It was also used for the VHS artwork. @malfuncsean3 жыл бұрын
When it come to posters from the 1985 and earlier rolled is rarer because they used to fold them to ship to theaters. Sometime in 1985 they changed that to shipping them rolled because they displayed nicer without the creases.

Really interested in the portfolios but curious how many posters you're comfortable storing in them... did you add pages to yours to store more? Can you store the portfolios upright without causing any damage to the posters or the portfolio itself? Just have a lot of posters and debating more portfolios vs. more pages.
@malfuncsean3 жыл бұрын
The portfolio comes with 20 double sided pages so that's 40 posters. You can add roughly 5 more pages before it's gets too heavy and they pop open and come undone. So figure you can hold around 50 posters in one folder. If I had one complaint it's that the outside covers are not sturdy and strong enough lean against a wall and stand on their own. You pretty much have to stack them when storing them. You could hang them from the carrying handle but that's not very practical really.

Hi Sean. I was wondering what you meant by "teaser" poster, specifically when speaking about "The Fog" and "Funhouse." I saw both films back in the early 80s during their original theatrical runs at the same, mom and pop theater near me. The posters they had hanging in the sidewalk poster cases for both films were the ones you described at teaser posters. I was under the impression that the "pink mist" poster for "The Fog" and the drooling mouth for "The Funhouse" were the primary one sheets. In fact, the first time I ever saw the "Jamie Lee" design for "The Fog" and the jack in the box for "The Funhouse" were as VHS box covers when they hit home video. I don't remember seeing those as one sheets in theaters during the original runs.
@malfuncsean3 жыл бұрын
It was very common and still is to have two different style posters for a film. One that is an advance / teaser poster to build the hype and then come out with the final artwork poster closer to the release of the film. Some times the artwork wouldn't change but the info would. For example of you saw my teaser poster for Hellbound Hellraiser II you can see where it says "He's Back!' on the top and "Opens in theaters everywhere on December 23rd" on the bottom. Just before the release of the film they put out the final one sheet that across the top that says "Clive Barker takes us on a descent into Hell" and "Time To Play" near the bottom but both have the same artwork/images. Not every film did teaser posters. Halloween is one example. They only released the one style here in the U.S.
