Some Great Reward is such an underrated DM album. It was the bedrock of what came after. It sits unashamedly in my top three to this day. It's all subjective at the end of the day. Great video Dan. :)

Great video. Been a fan since SOFAD and have been 'devoted' ever since. I'm from Australia and have enjoyed visiting Paris, Manchester, London, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Antwerp over the years thanks to their lack of playing Australia - last time they played here was 1994 although that was a great show! Shocked you put Delta Machine last. I truly didn't mind that album and thought 'Spirit' was worse. 'Exciter' is rightfully placed... has some great moments on it but absolutely not as solid as it should be. 'Dream On' kind of bored me as a lead single but 'I Feel Loved' and 'Free Love' are AMAZING. 'Some Great Reward' was, for many years before I got into them properly, my favourite album. I especially loved 'Lie To Me', 'It Doesn't Matter', and 'Somebody'. I struggled with creating a 'top 3'... but if I had to create one today, it would be: 1. Songs of Faith and Devotion 2. Violator 3. Music For The Masses

I've always been more of a casual Depeche Mode fan. I only have two of their CDs in my collection. The Best Of CD, and Black Celebration, which I find to be the equivalent of a hits compilation because every song is amazing. Perfect choice as number one on your ranking list.

I agree memento mori was a surprise. Didn't like ghosts again but the album was fire 💥

Great list! My top five depeche mode albums ... 5: Music for the masses 4: Momento Mori 3: Black celebration 2: Violator 1: Songs of faith and devotion They had such an incredible run in the late eighties through to the early nineties. I saw them live recently at the O2, and they still got it, Dave was on top form. Thanks for the video!

Great list and video! Have you ever listened to the Songs of Faith and Devotion Live album? I picked it up from the discount bin when I was a teenager, and it's my favorite album of DM. The studio album pales in comaprision to the passion of the live performance.

@@yiftachchozev yes I bought it on iTunes years ago and I love how the songs sound on that album, I’ve also got the DVD of that tour and I think it’s my favourite DM tour, I loved how they revamped the classics for that tour. Glad you love it too.

Worst to best for me: • Playing the Angel (if I'd listened chronologically like I did when first getting into them, it took awhile to get used to Gahan's sudden age to his voice) • Speak & Spell (Haircut 100's younger, Catholic charter school cousins) • A Broken Frame • Spirit • Exciter • Delta Machine • Sounds of the Universe • Memento Mori • Construction Time Again [if you'd included B-sides] • Some Great Reward • Violator (singles are evergreen, but have heard them too many times) • Black Celebration (a nice blend of past and future) • Music for the Masses • Ultra • SOFAD

Exciter and Delta machine are both great albums, unfortunately they both suffer the same problem which is having a few songs too many. By removing Breathe, I am you and Easy tiger it's enough to get a radically different feel for Exciter. Three of the four extra songs on the Deluxe version of Delta machine, is among the best songs of that album IMO.

Top 3 is: 1. Black Celebration 2. Music for the masses 3. Violator for sure! Everyting after Alan Wilder left is meh! Vince Clark era was also brilliant!
