MALICE MIZER - SADNESS ~I know the reason for her sadness~

One of my videos from my old account.
A classic early track by the legendary visual kei band MALICE MIZER. This was during the era when Tetsu was the vocalist. This track first appeared in instrumental form on their first demotape, sans logique, released October 31, 1992. It later appeared on 3 demotapes with vocals: The 1th Anniversary, SADNESS and SADNESS/SPEED OF DESPERATE, all released in 1993. This rip is taken from the SADNESS/SPEED OF DESPERATE tape.
This is NOT my rip, I take no credit for it. I just made the video and uploaded it. Apart from that, enjoy this classic piece of visual kei/gothic rock history, in all it's icy cold glory.

I wish Testu would have made more music with them. I really loved how his wallowing voice complimented the mellow and sometimes aggressive tone of malice mizer at that time.

@@nhy123123 he got hate because he wasn’t Gackt or Klaha. Really. I guess his vocal style is also an acquired taste as it’s not as melodic as the other two. Also, it didn’t help that he didn’t have any feature music videos or big photo shoots, so the fans didn’t really get to know him. I honestly found out more about him now than I did back then. There’s more live footage of MM’s early concerts on KZbin now.

EDIT2022: PLEASE READ THE ADDED END OF THIS COMMENT. I can confirm that the version on my "The 1th Anniversary" demo tape sounds crappy and is the unclean version everyone knows. So probably it sounds much better on the "SADNESS" and "SADNESS/SPEED OF DESPERATE" tapes released prior, where this YT video version is from. I wonder why it's so bad on the "The 1th Anniversary" tape......... EDIT: A real MALICE MIZER demo tape is so incredibly, incredibly rare. I've never seen some of them on sale, and I've been stalking Japanese auctions for the past 6 years. I did see a fair amount of fakes. The real ones have much better audio and printing quality than fakes. The people that ripped their tapes and put them on the internet decades ago also mostly had fakes. I have four copies of THE 1TH ANNIVERSARY, and all are fake. The real one probably has great audio.

Hello! As stated in the description of the video, this song first appeared in instrumental form on the band’s first demo tape, Sans Logique. “Sans Logique” is named after the song of the same name by Mylène Farmer (banger song btw) from her 1988 album “Ainsi Soit Je”. Malice Mizer interpolated the chords (and partly the instrumental melody) from the chorus of the title track of the album in Sadness. Link to the song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoeZkGxqjLerbas. 3:33 onwards is probably the best part for comparison, but you might as well just listen to the whole song because it’s nice. You may notice as well that the font used for her name on the cover art of this album is the same Malice Mizer used for their logo. I hope you found this interesting! :))

@@abnokaP it's a tad more complex. Visual Kei is a philosophy of being musically and visually yourself, and in it's earliest days it drew A LOT from goth, biker gang, punk, and metal aesthetics. X Japan is considered the first Visual Kei band and gave the movement it's name. If you look at their early aesthetic it's a pretty full mix of all four visual influence. Malice Mizer came from wave two and leaned more into the gothic aspects musically and visually.

I personally adore Tetsu's vocals, while his voice would be considered less popular than for instance Gackt or Kami's, it still holds a saudade and uniquely passionate beauty to it which is simply ethereal.

This is SO beautiful! Gosh, how I wish Tetsu stayed with Malice Mizer for longer! His singing takes me places I swear, his voice is loud, clear, and the emotions are so real, I feel pain in it - it's truly remarcable. I perefer his voice over Gackt's. I don't even listen to Gackt's studio version of Ma Cherie, I've downloaded the live version sung by Tetsu, and it's flawed, and it has many unwanted noises, the quality is BAD, but Tetsu's voice is so GOOD, so suitable fo the song. Truly sad that he decided to leave MM.. Either way I don't think they would have stuck to this concept, even if he stayed. Bands tend to change a lot with time, so we can't really know if him leaving MM was for the better or for worse.

this song is so beautiful and underrated... the melancholic and dissonant atmosphere with tetsu's sharp androgynous voice is so good. i wish i could understand what hes saying at the parts without lyrics. i can only make out "the reason for her sadness" and MAYBE the word "yuurei"? idk
