MALL TOUR - Paramus Park, Paramus, New Jersey

This is my tour of Paramus Park in Paramus, New Jersey, from June 28, 2021. The mall was opened in 1974 by the famous mall developer Jim Rouse. It has an interesting layout, in which the food court in the center of the mall is on a second floor, but the rest of the property is a single story. The food court in this mall is considered one of the first successful food courts in a mall, and is influential in the design of other food courts throughout the world. This is a thriving mall in northeastern New Jersey, located very close to the Garden State Plaza, and the former Fashion Plaza Mall. This is a relatively modern shopping mall, but unlike other modern malls, it retains pleasing splashes of colour throughout. Thanks for watching!

It's one of the prettiest malls I've been to, and I've been to quite a number. Modern design but still very pleasing to the eye and colorful.

My favorite mall of all time. The Paramus Park Mall. Back in the 1990's, me and my family use to visit PPM every week. It was never a dull moment and enjoyed ourselves to the fullest extent. I particularly enjoyed the era before it was modernized in 2000-2001 when they had the stunning waterfall/fountain, and the neon lighted elevator. Aaaah, those were the days. It's fairly attractive yet inside, and thankfully still retains its "park" natural light, but its original look was gorgeous. The waterfall, pond, elevator, and the intertwined pathways where the steps led you up and down in a park between the main level and the food area was stunning. If you never experienced it, there are not quite enough of the right words to explain its character and how it felt being through and in that section. There have been pictures which have turned up, but none that I have seen as of this date which really detail all that made up that section. It would be amazing if movies were shot through and around all that was there.

This mall is super close to my house and I remember as a young kid getting my picture taken with Santa Claus and getting pretzels in the food court. I was there recently, and so many places are gone now, it's sad. Only 3 surviving restaurants in the food court (Charley's Philly Steaks, Sarku Japan, and Chik-fil-A), but back in the 2000s, it had a ton of places. I remember it had a great McDonalds, Taco Bell, Bourbon Street Chicken, Good Earth Potato, Master Wok, and Sbarro. Such a shame the mall that heavily inspired modern day mall food courts now has barely any places to eat.

I do remember this mall at the time I used to live in Ringwood NJ & at the their was Caldor, Two Guys, Woolworth and many more! Since the COVID-19 EVERYONE in the world was hit and business too! Others major stores went out of business or now do on line shopping

Wow that mall has changed. No more Merry go Round for the kiddies. Farrell’s Ice Cream parlor upstairs was wonderful for birthday celebrations. The current center looks forelorn. No more waterfall and plant wall. Just an empty container.
