This is the one of the malls (with the exception of the Mall of America) in the Twin Cities that is alive and kicking.

I don't pretend to be an expert in retail, but I do watch a lot of "dead mall" videos. One of the common themes I see is that the success or failure of a mall's anchor stores determines the success or failure of the entire mall. With anchor stores like Scheel's, Target, JCP, Kohls, B&N, and even the AMC theater, it seems like EPC is still a fairly healthy mall. It's good to see stores open and lots of foot traffic.

Eden Prairie Center was a dead mall, came back to life. But is having its share of vacancies. But seems to be doing better than most malls of its size.

One of the central areas had a lower-level food court, years ago. Wonder if it was filled in, or maybe just supports for the upper-level floor.

That’s a good question, I know there is a lower level that I think has offices. That might be what they converted that too, but maybe someone else knows more. #edenprairie

I don't know if I have my bearings right, but I think that food court was over by where Kohl's is (13:53). They had a Steak and Fry Co, and I remember sneaking over there when I was in high school just to get a big greasy bucket of their hand cut fries.

Not much has changed since the 2001 remodeling job, just different stores. I remember frequenting Sam Goodys and Hot Topic in the early 2000s

Online shopping is a lame excuse pushed on us by mainstream media to cover for their Wall Street buddies and bought off corporatist politicians in Congress who have decimated our middle class to make multi millionaires and billionaires even richer. There are two main reasons why malls are dying. 1. Americans no longer have the disposable income to shop at malls 2. Neglect of infrastructure and horrid planning by state and local governments has made it a pain in the arse to get to the nearest mall. Nobody wants to spend over half the day fighting traffic to get to and from a mall when they can just drive down the street and go to a target or Walmart. Online shopping just simply took advantage of already sick and dying malls.
