"MALLARD' - The fastest of them all
"MALLARD" - the very name means speed to all who know and
love railways! The British Steam Locomotive which holds the
all-time speed record for steam is one of the most famous ever.
This programme is really a tribute to those who brought Mallard
back to work from 1985 to 1988 to celebrate the 50th anniversary
of that momentous day of 3rd July, 1938. Many of the runs from
1985 to 1988 are covered together with the first steaming at York.
the line-up of 3 A4's at the N.R.M. and the last run on 27th August
1988. In addition we have an outstanding feature with coverage
of Mallard's previous "last" Railtour in 1963. in the West
Country, in B.R. livery - filmed by IVO PETERS.
