This is the Mallee Highway level crossing in Murrayville, Victoria, Australia. This level crossing is located on the Murrayville railway line.
This level crossing is a flashing light setup and has 2 signals which are located on the north eastern and south western sides of the level crossing.
There is 1 track going through this level crossing which is standard gauge.
This level crossing is maintained by V/Line
The level crossing equipment consists of:
- A Siemens Type 3 electronic bell on the south western gated signal
- Westinghouse crossarms
- Marked and unmarked older style Westinghouse LED lights
- Level crossing ahead signs with an illustration of a level crossing signal
- Level crossing ahead road markings with a rail diagram
When I filmed on the northern the side the level crossing kept turning on and off. This is because the Murrayville railway line sees minimal use, the rails are very rusted and the track circuits for the level crossing are unreliable as the level crossing kept turning on and off as the train was approaching it.
Level crossing history:
Flashing lights were installed in 1982
Here’s the level crossing in 2009 when it had a Westinghouse hybrid bell, Westinghouse incandescent lights and black background stop on red signal signs: maps.app.goo.gl/6mvfetueE9AKG...
