@@jasonstaples4364 I love when people share their stories and experiences with raccoons. I’m sorry for your loss. I adopted a 3 day old orphaned raccoon in early 2020 and she’s been a wonderful addition to our family. Her name is MaeBe, because we thought “maybe she’ll stay, maybe she won’t”. She has decided to stick around ❤️ My son helped to rehab her and lovingly refers to her as his little sister 😂

A raccoon? That's so cool! I wished that I lived somewhere where they are a common sight. I would absolutely love to observe them just (hopefully!) living their best fluffy, mischievous life 😊 It's not that I want one as a pet because I don't have the stability and experience but just observing.. That sounds awesome!😃❤

Most cases of Yersinia pestis (plague) infection happen in parts of Africa and Asia, but there are also a few cases per decade in extremely rural parts of rhe US southwest. There is also another flea-vectored disease in that area of the US, called hantavirus, that occurs at intervals of several years, and I thought until quite recently that they were the same thing.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE Do a Podcast episode on the Witch Trials in Germany especially The Würzburg Witch Trials 1625-1631 which had one of if not the biggest mass trial and executions in the entire history of Europe. Also the Bamburg Witch Trials 1627-1632 which is basically the only other contender for the largest mass trials and executions, there's also the Trier 1581 and 1593 and the Fulda Witch Trials 1603 to 1606. It was basically a time of mass hysteria fueled by the fact that these Towns/Cities were on the boarder between a Bishop Prince (yhea that's a great idea putting the power of the church and state in the hands of one man) in a Catholic area and a Bishop Prince in a Protestant area during the 30 year's war 1618 to 1648 which along with the hysteria which the 2 religions caused and fuled basically killed up to 50% of the entire German population. I mean the 30 years was a massive most of the big powers in Europe apart from Britain war apparently over if there should be imperial rule or not but for the biggest of the powers it was basically the same as any war a land grab. Spanish Empire, Bavaria, Catholic League and The Habsburg Monarchy obviously fighting for the Catholic Church against Sweden, Denmark/Norway, Bohemia, Transylvania, Saxony, The Dutch and other German principalities fighting for the Protestant Church. Then around half way through the French joined to get a piece of the cake. As I said Religion gave them a good cause that would rile up the public and get them to join the various fighting forces at least at first until the land wasn't tended, crops weren't planted, animals were taken by the armies for food etc so everyone started to starve which is when even religion doesn't really seem enough for many and then obviously conscription or the conscription of the day was used and while the Catholics had the numbers by a huge margin, especially before the French joined the Protestants were far more advanced and especially the Swedish were tactically far superior to the Catholics. The Swedish king at the time was something of a genius when it came to coming up with ways to kill lots and lots of people. Either way the Witch Trials of that time in Germany were next level and dwarfed anything that happened in Britain where there was actually fairly few Witch trials compared to the rest of Europe but for some reason it's those few British and even fewer American ones which get most of the press and really skew the real picture of what happened. Switzerland and northeastern France were also places where hundreds and hundreds of trials happened. Between 1500s to 1782 between 40,000 and 60,000 people were put to death for being witches in main land Europe. Europes supposed very last Witch was killed in Switzerland. Witch Trials were already a thing in some places before the Malleous Maleficarum came out. Basically caused by a, well Gang War between the two main religions Catholicism and Protestantism but they didn't go out to get rich but the fight was, over salvation and which religion could save your soul from devilry a big part of which was Witch hunting. At first it was mostly the Protestants who started it the Catholic Church had basically ignored such things as it was the healers and wise woman/men that were the easiest targets and were often thought to use a little magic in their healing etc as this was the only way they had to explain it when that person mashed up a few plants and gave it them to drink and it'd make them better or take away the pain. The amount of knowledge and experience lost due to those hunts will never be understood and meant that whilst the very person who could help you was burning you were in pain or dying as there was no one else or nothing else but prayer to help you which wasn't anywhere near as effective. However whilst it was the Protestants who started it, at least in a very small scale it was the Catholics who took it to the next level and really started the mass killings the link between the two faiths competing for power and being willing to do basically anything and everything to gain or retain it is very clear with more than two thirds of witch trials and exactions taking place during the counter reformation when the Catholic Church stepped up it's response to several German principalities legalising Lutherism and the main powers changing their faith from Catholic to Protestant. Also in places where the Catholic or Protestant churches held power with no competition like Spain, most of France very few Witches were exacuted same in Britain where protestant was in power again by comparison very few. Magic was an accepted and seen as a force fir good until 1500s when those 2 needed causes to fight/kill for. As I said healers were believed to use magic to explain what they did.

Also if Keith isn't in it then it's just a retelling, which are never done as well and without supporting images of cases Mike's already covered on his main channel we just get 2 cases loosely linked together instead of one but as I said neither is covered as, well as it was originally and there's no images to help tell the story either so I can never see the point unless Keith is there as that's when we get a new story.
