Albert Johnson could have grown up in one of the many predominantly Scandinavian communities that exist in the mid-west portion of the US and had an accent. That would also make him used to working in extreme cold. I live in central Alaska and some of the weather we have here is comparable to weather in the area of the Dakotas. -40 is survivable with proper clothing, but I fortunately have never had to be out in it for days like the RCMP did during this chase.
@deborahsunflower939 Жыл бұрын

So for those of you no familiar with Scandinavian people.....We are a strong, hearty, hard headed people. We thrive in cold weather and we never give up. Hes definitely an Icelander, he even has the nose of old school bloodline of Iceland, every person on my Dad's side has that nose. I was born in America to an Icelandic Dad and a Norwegian Mum.

Every few years, I revisit the story of that Finnish soldier who ate his entire regiment's speed rations and went on a long stimulant-fueled ski rampage across the frozen countryside. Obviously the meth helped (or, "helped", lol) but nonetheless: a lesser being could never.

17:10 I have a couple of theories: I think you mentioned the first Mountie said he had an accent. If he was from Norway, Sweden or Switzerland, that kind of sub-arctic wilderness would be like his back yard. Another theory, because Keith said First Nation hunters wouldn't go out in such conditions because they knew better, he might not have known better, and simply been of the 'this is the situation; let's get it done' mindset, and it was merely indomitable force of will, combined with some serious military training/possible familiarity with similar conditions and terrain 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ One thing's for sure: Absolute Badass 👍👍👍👍

Hahaa! Keith's daughter sounds like me when I was young! Rest easy, Keith...I became a horror artist- not a serial killer. I used to melt my Barbies' feet and hang their heads on sticks. I also used ketchup as blood to simulate wounds on them. I grew up loving horror movies and my parents always told me that everything was fake. That intrigued me. I wanted to know how everything was done- makeup, sets, props...everything. Now I'm a horror artist, as I've said, who also does special fx makeup and I work in the entertainment industry- theater and concerts. And I tell ya, eventhough my Barbies came to horrible ends, I can't hurt anything...haha! I can't even kill bugs without feeling terrible about it. Keith, your daughter may turn out to be just fine 🙂 ( just in case, keep an eye on the pets 😉)

The coldest weather I've ever experienced was in Kotzebue, AK and was -55 F (or -48 celsius). Breathing in the air physically hurts your mouth, throat and lungs. Your eyeballs hurt, any sliver of your body that is not covered in full expedition gear stings horribly. The worst part about it was I had to drive a four wheeler to work in that weather with no windshield. It hurts me just thinking about it.

Yes, to the American ear, the Irish or sounds like oor, where we typically use aar, just as Mike used when he mentioned the comments in this video. There can be variations in America as well, depending on where the person lives, because the southern states have certain accents, parts of NYC have their own, Maine or Boston has pretty pronounced accents & of course the various midwest ones. As I said on the last episode, talking about what sort of mental illness might support a man choosing to live alone almost all the time, but similarly, my mental illness makes me very calm during conflict, in fact, when conflict happens, which was a lot when I was younger, for me everything seems to slow down. Not like the Matrix or some dramatic, magic effects, but it feels like my brain switches to pure hypervigilance (which is always my usual state, but this is heightened) & my brain moves to just calculations. Look at how people are standing, where their weight is, anything I already know about their strengths or weaknesses, etc. I've never been formally trained in the military or martial arts, but I'm very calm in conflict.
