Mallorca Holiday Costs: SHOCKING PRICES or affordable?

When I come over to palma nova every year, I spend roughly £200-£300 for two week holiday self catering. I do not go out to restaurants. Everything is very expensive now but I enjoy myself when I’m on holiday over there and the lovely sunshine

Have to say I never find it too expensive to eat. We don't always want a big meal at lunchtime, often a picnic on the beach is enough and snacks are cheap enough. Our accomodation is fine, we have trouble finding a flight for a decent price as most of them are ridiculous prices and often more expensive than the accomodation! and I'm always a bit nervous about leaving it until the last minute for a bargain! I really think Mallorca has good bargains wherever you stay or eat. Thanks for all the up to date tips Alex.

We usually do self catering. Odd lunch and evening meal out. Definitely helps save money! Can't beat sitting on the balcony in your PJs eating your tea with a bottle of cava🥂🥩

Very expensive. Save money by shopping at supermarkets and preparing your own food and snacks and drinks and rent an apartment, (May, Sept, Oct months will cost less and weather still good and not as hot as July and August). Mercadona, Lidl, and Aldi will save you the most money. Try the chinese shops for beach dresses, sandals etc.

I stayed in Puerto Pollenca last week for 7 nights and definitely found it to be expensive. Finding a beer for less than 5 euros was difficult. I paid 15 euro for a sandwich at lunchtime in Pollenca old town. The only affordable place for cocktails was Bonys as the surrounding cafes were around 12 euro. Of course staying in the apartment i was able to make breakfast and lunch and found Eroski and Hiper supermarkets to be reasonable. Overall the days of Spain being cheap are well and truly over. Despite the costs Mallorca remains my favourite place and i will always continue to visit.

Been coming for forty three years, checked next years prices, big rise in our hotel, Mallorca must get smart, Turkey, Greece, and Bulgaria will clean up .Dont milk the golden goose dry, we may not come back in 25.

I can’t believe how much the hotel prices are for next August. We wanted to do self catering but because they are so much, and then eating and drinking out is now so expensive, I think we need to hunt for the most reasonably priced all inclusive we can find!

@katepalmer4423 do you remember how much did you pay for flights or you"ve had a "package" holiday with everything included? i"ve booked the hotelfor august this year(early booking good deal) without realising that flights for 4 are around 1000£ with the orange company..being the ceapest...was just thinking if worth waiting a bit more or just buy them now, as maybe will go up even more...still with this flight price is cheaper than all travel agents for same period same hotel by 1000£...

I had to laugh at the thought of a healthy ice-cream budget, but you are right "treats" like that can easily be a daily thing & can really add up. We are bracing ourselves for this years increased prices.

Very thorough guide. We were in Alcudia a few weeks back - definitely expensive compared to other resorts we’ve been in the past but like you say - prices have gone up everywhere. Inflatables, we paid around €25 for a “decent” one, snorkel etc was around €15-20 and the quality wasn’t great. Beers were expensive, cocktails €8+ and years ago everywhere abroad used to do the 2 for 1 on spirits, but we didn’t find anywhere doing that? I’d say prices were similar to the UK for food eating out. A day at the water park - Alcudia one - I think it was around €120 to get in (2A&2C), over 11’s classed as adults, then you have to pay for a sun lounger €5.50 each and inflated prices for the food and drinks. As a family of 4, you can soon get through the money quickly!

The shop bought beach umbrella price is very reasonable. I was wondering this! Do people usually end up leaving them when they go home? They should do a shop where you can buy pre owned ones instead of people continuously buying them or binning them! Save the environment and all that! 😂

The charity shops in Palma Nova always have them & lilos ( S. Army especually) next to Lidl

Many give to locals on the beach. I’ve never bought a beach inflatable the whole time I’ve lived here !

@@MallorcaUnderTheSun yes that’s exactly what happened with us! We were sat on the beach and a family donated their umbrella to us as they were going home! It seems the floaties in the pool are just anyones too when they leave hotel. We did buy some before we realised though lol. Home tomorrow! A bit pink but it’s been brilliant! I’d definitely come again :)

We just spent the afternoon in Sa’Coma and was shocked (to say the least!) and being charged €38 for 2 sunbeds… apparently they are ‘luxury’ ones, and the ‘cheaper’ blue ones further down the beach were €18

We went to santa ponsa last year and loved it but to book the same holiday for 2 weeks this year would cost an extra thousand pounds and that's only half board. So we have booked an all inclusive I tenerife for much cheaper. I know they have increased the cost of holidays in that area to push out the stag/hen dos but it's also pushing out the families too ☹️
