Malmsteen VS Impellitteri (Guitar Riffs Battle).
We all know both for their incredible guitar playing and amazing solo shred , but they also came up with some pretty cool songs and riffs. So here are just a few of them.
Riffs played :
Vengeance
Last of a dying breed
I am a viking
Stand in line
Deja vu
Warrior
Never die
Lost in the rain
Hangar 18
Father forgive them
Queen in love
The future is black
Fire
Kingdom of light
Rising force
Run for your life
Since you´ve been gone

FINALLY!!!!! SOMEBODY showing Chris Impellitteri the proper amount of respect he is due. Malmsteen in widely regarded as the greatest living guitarist in the metal scene today; but Chris Impellitteri is also an incredibly accomplished guitarist in his own right. It's just sad that he hasn't gotten the notoriety here in the states that he really should have. He's HUGE in Japan and has been for nearly 30 years.

@@davidsmith-jj4iq I was a huge fan of Yngwie in the 80's, he blew me away as no one else sounded like him when I first heard him in 1986. But after that> And now? I think he has his place in guitar history but I think only hardcore fans think he's the most respected of the last 30 years. I would say Vai, Satriani and Petrucci are above him on that list. Proof? He doesn't come that high in metal guitar polls. But I still respect his first four albums enormously. Some great riffs and amazing solos.

Have you ever seen G3 or Generation Axe? He only plays as rehearsed unless it's like the talking in between songs/introductions he may throw in some noodling. When it's his show he can do whatever he wants but when playing with other legends he respects their space and spotlight. Unless you were being sarcastic than yeah that's funny. Guess it would be the common meme.
@Zareh_Abrahamian
@Zareh_Abrahamian 4 жыл бұрын
@@Hilariumosis I believe that Yngwie is the absolute guitar god. I believe that no guitarist in the history of rock and metal guitar playing has had more impact on guitarists than Yngwie Malmsteen. My comment was light-hearted and for laughs. I didn't think it would offend anybody, but this is the reality of the internet. Also it is a fact that on his later albums at least, Yngwie does tend to overdo his noodling. It's his music and he has the absolute right to do whatever he pleases, but the listener has also the right to their opinion. Compare a song that grabs the attention of the listener and gratifies them with a great guitar solo after a great build up, to one where the guitarist noodles the whole time leaving no chance for a tension and release, climax, catharsis whatever you will. Oh yes I have the G3 album with Satch, Vai and Yngwie and needless to say I enjoy Yngwie's parts the most, not that I do not enjoy the other two mind you!

Even though unfair came way before Impellitteri, for me it always has been Impellitteri that caught my attention, ya know that rapid tremolo picking he always does when starting the solo , that trrrrrrr sound 😂 I love Impellitteri

Really cool idea to pair these two! And great playing as usual. I was just slightly disappointed by the chosen Impellitteri riffs. I mean there was surely some good ones, but not all... Thus Yngwie won by a landslide! Or maybe I have overestimated Chris, lol? But Yngwie has such iconic riffs that no one can beat those...

That was a bold move in playing 'lost in the rain' riff by Chris, no body has ever dare to play the guitar solo though, it's faster than the speed of light.

@@TheSuffocater you're right, I noticed that too, but you could feel and hear the guy's shred doesn't feel quite catch up to Chris monster shred in that solo, some notes missing in that interval. But overall it's a great cover.

It's really inspiring reading many of the comments for this video. Back when the internet was young, guitar showdowns usually became bloodbaths among fans. I like both Yngwie and Chris. Chris has written some really amazing songs in the last decades, even if a lot of people regarded his as "just" a fast player. But for me, *the* game-changer really was Yngwie. He singlehandedly created a whole new style of rock music, picking up where Randy Rhoads had left off and taking it way further. Nowadays, however I don't really listen to them a lot 😔 For Yngwie, I just tend to ignore anything from "War to End All Wars" and on. Even Alchemy I don't usually listen to it whole but mainly just "Leonardo". For Impelliteri I rarely listen to a full album. It's mostly individual songs. But I must mention that "Fly Away" was my ring tone for many, many years, back when I used to play a lot more with my cellphone. All in all, I'm thankful for all the amazing music those two have given to the world 🌎 🙏 ❤

I will probably always be biased to Malmsteen, as a kid in the 80's learning guitar I will never forget my older neighbour giving me a cassette tape of guitar players type songs and it had a few Yngwie songs on it. As you can imagine, as a kid hearing this guitarist with the weird name for the first time was life changing as far as guitar playing goes. I moved on from Yngwie of course but I still respect and enjoy his first albums up to Eclipse and while Yngwie is somewhat of a meme today, I have enormous respect for him and his massive influence on me even if I never play neo-classical style these days

Impellitteri’s riffs use more bone-crunching distortion, and his riffs are just altogether heavier. Yngwie uses an early 80’s classic single-coil sound on most albums and he has never gotten heavier in 30 years. Magnum Opus was one notable exception and I suspect that’s why this gentleman opened with it. 👍

The guitar battle series is awesome! Just seen em all and I want more! How about Randy Rhoads vs. Jake E. Lee (Zakk Wylde has a completely different style that isn't comparable to Randys or Jakes imo)? Or a Hairmetal shootout, since it was the era of guitar heroes... Oh nealy forgot: What about the others of the Big 4 (You already had Hannemann vs. Hetfield and King). Just as I said, awesome content!
