If you think about it, there really are not that many songs that can be called an undisputable "CLASSIC", a TIMELESS, forever PERFECT & BEAUTIFUL song that INSTANTLY makes your ears perk up, brings a smile to your face, and pulls at the strings of your heart, while... somehow... also taking you back in time to THE BEST MEMORIES OF YOUR YOUTH! Yet, that is what this song does to everyone that hears it, even after all these years! For that, we THANK YOU Malo!

When I was living in Korea, I had someone from the US send me this album. My main idea was to have a Korean painter/artist make a very large painting on canvas of the cover and frame it. The guy did a fantastic job on it. He detailed it very, very well. When I moved back to the States I brought it back with me and it hangs on the wall to this day at home. People that come to the house constantly comment about it. I show them the album and they look at the painting. The word "amazing" is what I hear from them. Thank you Malo for coming into existence.............

True story behind the song. Guy is a Jr. in High School; flunks algebra and has to take freshman algebra again. Meets freshman girl in the class. Used to ride his bike to her house. One day, he got there, she was with another guy, he knew it was over, broke his heart, but we got one of the best songs ever out of it.

This is such a precious piece of music, a salsa of beautiful vocals, gentle Rhumba rhythms and instrumental licks - if only ears had taste buds. I'm especially drawn to Jorge Santana's guitar playing which softly waves and pulses in the background. You have to listen carefully to hear his magic. This is truly an enduring and delightful classic. Malo means bad in Spanish, but this is bad in the best way. RIP Jorge, thanks for the licks. Rainbows of love to you, brother.

Hello Mr Houlgate. It's a small big world. A photographer in the Eugene area just posted pictures of a recent Malo concert and I had to ask if it was the same group that wrote Suavacito.... We covered this poorly in one of my early bands. 🫣

@JohnHoulgate 4 ай бұрын
@@markelliottwest Hello Mark, I don't think this is an easy song to cover, so don't be so hard on yourself. Malo has been known to show up in some places. It's usually a blend of very few older members with some younger ones. I've seen videos taken within San Francisco's Mission District where Jorge Santana and his more famous brother grew up. Jorge went on to perform in other bands, including Abel and the Prophets. One of my "spiritual" friends played bass with him.

@@maloband1972 Absolutely! These jams will never get old. I recall growing up near Echo Park in SoCal in the early 70s. My folks would play all the cool jams of that era over their huge Philco console.. That base would resonate throughout the entire house. Cool times to be a kid 😁

Witnessed Whittier Blvd in all it's glory once at age 16/17? Traveled w/UFW caravan. Best friend was salivating over the vatos/low rider's definitely trying to get their attention. I being aware of our surroundings spotted a small group of female's observing us like territorial doberman pinchers. We we're so out of our element small town girls! Convinced her we should get back to the rally

Late 1960's, early 1970's was a time of the Chicano Movement & Pride. Malo, Santana, El Chicano, etc. came to the fore producing memorable, timeless music on a level which hasn't been reached 50 years later. Earlier, Willy G. & Thee Midniter's Dreaming Casually, That's All were anthems for Cholos and the Low Rider's on Whittier Blvd.
