Thanks I was looking for a adaptor like that. Thomann will not send the parts to the US but I found one in Hawaii. ( farther from me then Germany) 😊 I think I'll try to dremel down the string ends before I put them in the adaptor

I have this adapter and didn't used it yet, but for some reason I feel I am wondering if it shouldn't be reversed with the tipping part at the top.

Hi there, Mira. There's now another comment claiming it should be installed differently. Could you explain how you mean? Like.. Strings entering from the other side. But screws still facing up like now? Trying to make sense of it. I find mixed results when researching online. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong after all haha

Does steinberger make a 5 string version of the headpiece for single ball strings ?
@MRegah11 ай бұрын
Yes, there‘s also a 5-string version

The original adapter, as shown in the first half of the video, with all due respect, is on back-to-front.

Could you explain how you mean? Strings entering from the other side? Now that you mention it (and another comment below): that's possible. I hadn't thought about it. So in the way you envision it, there would be this bit overhanging and also mean the sharp string ends would be recessed?
@MRegah9 ай бұрын
And also: could you give some reference how you know? I only find ambiguous results online. Definitely some who installed it the way I did.

Yes, entering the strings from the other side. I know this as have a Spirit bass. I also have both the adapters on your video. I can personally tell you that the second one is useless, but the first one is great and works perfectly and sits better the other way. Also, the little lip is designed to hide the cut strings underneath, so you don't see them, or stab yourself on them by accident.

@@billyrossjapan thanks for the thorough explanation. Makes a lot of sense. Guess I'll add a big "edit:" not to my description : D

The poor finish and design/machining discrepancies in the Chinese adapter would make it worth while to spend the additional 10€ or so. If the sharp ends of the strings are an issue on the 20€, maybe they could be filed smoother after cutting???
@MRegah9 ай бұрын
yes, I agree with you. definitely worth paying the extra few bucks. Only argument to get the chinese one would be lack of market availability of the original adapter, which seems to be the case once in a while. Sharp string ends is a minor issue and I mentioned it rather for the sake of completeness.

@@pablodetaille7811 www.thomann.de/de/steinberger_guitars_stadb05_adapter_5_string_bk.htm here you find the original part. For just 21€ (excl. shipping). Generally googling for "steinberger xt25 string adapter" should get you some results, maybe also in your country.
