​@@DerDrecksack87 There pretty much is no self contained SPAA vehicle that has active radar missiles in service. Command RF guidance for something like SHORAD makes way more sense since you're going to be firing a lot of them and they need to be small and cheap. The only short range active radar missile air defense system is NASAMS and that's because they just stuck an AIM-120 on a ground launcher

@@signs80 I was not just talking about SHORAD, the Patriot PAC3 and the S400/S500 systems all have fire & forget active radar guided missiles, sure they are hooked up in datalink with a radar but the missiles still go pitbull after fired if they lose radar lock from the ground station. They should add them in game, probably will at one point or make the 11.0-11.7 AA use fire & forget missiles like the Strela for gameplay reasons and limit the amount of simultanious spawnable AA to balance it or whatnot.

@@DerDrecksack87 They have said themselves they won't do SPAA like that because there is not really a feasible way to do it. S-300 and Patriot type systems need at minimum 3-4 different vehicles working together in order to actually function. IR missiles like the strela have shorter range than RF command guided missiles so they won't be particularly useful when enemy aircraft have 20km range guided TV missiles.

@@signs80 yeah and thats the issue with modern stuff, Gaijin either introduces new AA that outranges CAS or they introduce CAS that outranges AA in rotation year after year. The truth is there is no balance to be made, these systems were made as a response & to outdue each other irl aka the arms race. If they want to balance them they would have to artificially change the numbers to equal each others ranges between AA & jets, but then both communities would throw a tantrum again and downvote on steam. So gaijin is kinda in a hard place, do they want to keep it as it is (wich they wont as new stuff is coming especially for planes+new premiums are needed for funding) or try to expand on the game to allow for more modern & potent stuff, same story as with naval that is stuck in the WW2 battleship era and no real anti ship missiles on modern ships are in sight, because those would not work on the small maps we have, same as BWR with jets & long range air to air missiles like hypersonics, yet i also doubt they would make versions of existing maps 10x bigger just for top tier. I have no idea how they will do this when inevitably more ordnance & newer versions of jets come in, only in ground RB is somehow managable to have the new stuff fighting though those maps are antiquated too.

@@JordanMeadows-g1z Eh, kinda questionable decision. Tor got very short range and very low ceiling. It's selling point is SOME degree of armor, allowing it to work under fire and it's main task is covering other AA vehicles and emplacement, sweeping otherwise "missed" targets. That's why it shares same command vehicles with Osa, Strela and Tunguska. So the real bread and butter is sets of HARM missiles trying to hit systems like Pantsir, Buk, S-300/350/400 or radar posts.

SPAA is a bit of a love hate thing for since sometimes most people use spaa for others reason but when you have that one guy who keeps Alt+ deleting or click refresh sky tab to make sure nothing fly makes the matche soo much better

That was me with the striker for a bit. Can nail bmps, scout, move fast because of the gearbox (reverses as fast as it goes forward) and there's always that Russian guy with a ka50 at the start.
