Mama Gerties Campground Review, Asheville NC

While we were in Asheville, NC we wanted to show you all Mama Gertie's Campground. This is a nice kept, gated campground. It is on the side of a mountain, a few tight roads, sharp curves, with mountain views. Love the view on top. Check out the video..

thanks for the video,good info. would never go here myself because I don't get it when they say campground and they aren't really camping when you bring your house with you and they're packed in closer than houses on a street.

We go there every year. GREAT place but you’ll need to reserve WAY in advance.

We stayed here in mid August. Had the spot next to the bathhouse. Very nice, and scenic views but no shade at all on this level unless you can get the very back site which is what I would recommend if you stay on top... Not a lot of places with grass for pets up here either. Fall would be a great time with better temps! Management does not let you switch sites even if one opens up while you are there.

It's a back in site, and if the place is really busy.. there's a possiblity that a "drive through" spot may have a MH blocking a partial view. There are sites on the same level with better (premium) overlooks, and I would definately recommend it's not during the hottest part of the year. There are some reviews with videos on youtube... I just saw one by "Getting Outdoors with Mike & Yvonne" - they video the campgrounds including the top level, but didn't really show much of that site... And their video says its a lot of "tight spots" but when you book a place there, the manager leads you to your site on a golf cart and there's really no problems ....

Thanks, I just called and they also recommended site 32, it's an end site with a little bit of a "yard".

Much nicer than the Ashville KOA East, only thing the KOA has is the nice river that runs thru the park it’s very nice. KOA’s spaces are way too tight, would have booked Mama Gerties during our stay but it wasn’t available.

We do NOT recommend this campground. We asked to change sites in order to get satellite because cable did not work for us. Management was not happy about having to change sites--even though there were spaces available all over campground. Also, staff refused to allow us near our family in another camper. We've never experienced such rude and unprofessional staff in over 30 years of camping. We will never return. When we asked simply why we couldn't be near (not next to, but just near) our family, we were met with defensiveness and actual anger. It was unbelievable. Think twice!
