You don’t have to wash microfiber more than once or even the synthetic fibers for that matter. The reason you want to wash natural fibers such as cotton hemp and bamboo multiple times is because they have natural plant oils that come in the fibers that can repel liquid. So it’s important to wash them with detergent for that reason. Also when the natural fibers are weaved they are not as compacted initially but after washing and drying them multiple times the weave of the fibers shrink and compact making them fluff up and more absorbent. Microfiber doesn’t have natural oils and because they are a man made material they don’t shrink either. So the purpose for giving them a quick wash is to remove any manufacturing debris ☺️

What do you use on your newborn babies? Do they fit immediately? I noticed you said “they fit sooner on newborns” so not sure what to do for newborns? 👶

What are your inserts to use? We switched from pocket diapers to flats because I couldn’t find inserts my 7 month old son couldn’t out pee 🙃

I use a combination of Osocozy cotton prefolds, hemp inserts, flats, and a few microfiber inserts. I have to use at least 2 or 3 of those in each diaper or they will leak, so you can add more than what the diapers come with :)

Question ftm! So when the diapers are new you did say to wash them 3 times atleast but can you wash the inserts and diapers together? like first time diapers and inserts then the other 2 times just inserts? Is the wash routine the same as the dirty pile (cold rinse first then regular cycle)? or how would you recommend washing the new ones (diapers & inserts) ? I have 19 MK diapers and 7 Baby goal

You don't need to wash the pocket diapers all three times, just the inserts, so you could wash them all together the first time and then just the inserts the other two times. Yes I'd do the same cycle for the new ones as for dirty ones, but you don't need to use detergent for all three washes. I'd just do some the first time. And then the other washes would be more like rinses without detergent. I hope that answered your questions :)
